Webbie Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Hello there. A newb to the TCH and a question about transferring another domain I've got: The question is more about the bandwidth than the space. The website currently has 30,000 hits per day on it. (This is because of heightened activity regarding the subject) But usually, on average, it is about 10,000 hits per day. If I purchased the starter plan and moved the site over would 10GB of Bandwith per month be enough ? You guys obviously are more of an expert on this sort of things, so I appreciate if someone could do some calculations and advise. Thanks Webbie. Quote
LisaJill Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 This is impossible for us to judge - it's not just the number of hits but the size of your page, the number of objects loaded, etc. Your best bet, and what I would do, is start out with the starter plan and then watch bandwidth like a hawk. You can upgrade at any time (buy more bandwidth for that month or upgrade to a larger plan) and you do get a warning in email at 80% as well. Hope that helps! =) Quote

The current host have unlimited bandwidth, which sounds great but the downside is they don't offer all the extras as other hosts, such as TCH do. The website uses 30 megs of space, but it needs to expand, I can't do this where it is at the moment. Want to add a picture gallery amongst other things and I know that will suck some width. I may do as you suggest Lisa - Go with the starter and see what happens from there. (My sympathies for your loss Jikrantz) Quote

hindixp Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Ya, i agree and practically seen such Business Gimmicks Like Unlimited Traffic where a host specifies a condition of 10GB or 20 GB or more as the case or plan may be in terms and conditions. This limitation is often specified on page not easily visible. You may get cheaper rates for hosting elsewhere but always check about Bandwidth quota, and thats the reason why host's like TCH grow.
