kscearce Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I purchased a new host plan for a new domain early Sat evening. Total Choice sent me an email with access to the Cpanel and indicated that it can take 24-72 hours for propagation of the website domain. Exactly what does this mean? The first website I hosted with TCH my domain name was available within 24 hours. This time it's taking much longer to actually have my site available. I made sure that my domain name was set to the TCH servers shortly after I purchased my new plan, and I was just wondering what happens if the site isn't available this evening when the 72 hours will have passed? Any explanations would really be helpful. Thanks, Kathi Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 (edited) There are many DNS server scattered through out the world. Each of these servers maintains records of where your domain name is located. It takes 24-72 hours for all of these DNS servers to be udpated. What is the domain name? Edited June 29, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 24-72 hours is normal time, but i have read here in forum it can take up to 7-10 days if real bad. Nothing will happen to your account, except you will only be able to access it as welcome email says until propagation is finished. Quote

There's a forum called the TCH Family (customers) I'm a customer but can't get in. Is this a special forum for someone I think I am, but I'm not? Thanks for the explanation. Kathi Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 To get the password for that forum you just need to pm a blue or red guy. Quote
Bunni Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 I pulled up envisiondesigns.com and got this: welcome to envisiondesigns.com This domain is for sale at Domain Deluxe (domaindeluxe.com) Is this your site? Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 The registrant for that domain name is "Domain Deluxe", and the nameservers are set to some that I think is not TCH. You will need to contact them if this doesnt get solved. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 The domain name is envisiondesigns.com Who did you purchase this domain name from? As both Bunni and Thomas have pointed out the domain is owned by DomainDeluxe.com. Quote

This is very confusing, since I paid with my credit card. Kathi Quote
kscearce Posted June 29, 2004 Author Posted June 29, 2004 Ok, now I feel like a complete and total idiot! I bought envisondesigns.com I'm an English major for pete's sake, I spelled envision wrong! Mad!!! I now have a domain name I can't use. So, I went in and bought envisiondesigns.biz from the TCH domain name site. I suppose I need to wait until the end of the week for this domain name to propagate. Correct? Thanks for the help. I'm not usually so clueless when it comes to technology. So how do I get this new name applied to my TCH hosting account and the incorrect one removed so I can load my website to the correct site? Kathi Quote
TCH-Rick Posted June 29, 2004 Posted June 29, 2004 SUbmit a Help Desk ticket using the link at the top of this page and request the change of domain name on your account. New domains usually resolve in 24-48 hours. Quote
