danceswithscissors Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Do I have a file, folder, page, place, area, something within my CPanel or FTP site, that will allow me to check for direct linking and bandwidth theft? I've used search engines for this over the years but that isn't very reliable. I have some free graphics I'd like to put back online, but in the past I've had troubles with others direct linking to single images and entire pages at times. I'd like to avoid that this time around if at all possible. Quote
TCH-Rob Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Well, your AWStats will give you the most popular files requested and where those links are comming from and you could probably download and filter your logs to show you as well. Quote
danceswithscissors Posted June 20, 2004 Author Posted June 20, 2004 I shall go searching for AWstats then! Thanks Rob Quote
Deverill Posted June 20, 2004 Posted June 20, 2004 Check out the hotlink protection in cPanel too. It allows you to specify who can and can not link to your images. Quote
danceswithscissors Posted June 21, 2004 Author Posted June 21, 2004 Even better! Ain't nobody got permission 'cept me! LOLOL I've never had a problem with sending graphics to anyone who wants to use them but some people seem to think it's just easier to be sneaky and direct link. I'll never understand that *mindset*. Thanks Jim Thumbs Up Quote
