dtlinn Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 (edited) First time to post here... also not a true "webmaster" but I do build web sites and manage a couple. My newest site that I am working on is not quite up and running yet. The main problem I am having is setting up a "Gallery" using some software that the previous owner of the site was running. Is anyone else running a gallery on their site and know this software? The site is *link removed* and if you click on the gallery is comes up with a page that has me in a place where I dont know what to do. Just need some pointers on where to start working on the problem. Thanks in advance. Blue Skies, Dan link removed, you dont want just anyone accessing that Edited June 18, 2004 by TCH-Mike Quote
TCH-Dick Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 message me on one of the IM services listed in my sig, I'll try and walk you through the setup Quote
TCH-Dick Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 From the looks of it, the gallery is already set up, you just need to set the correct permissions on a few folders. If you are using an ftp client, log on, browse to the following folders and right click on them and you should see chmod, or permissions. Then set them accordingly. ftp> chmod 644 .htaccess (in the gallery folder) ftp> chmod 644 config.php (in the gallery folder) ftp> chmod 400 setup (chmod the entire folder) If you are using file manager in cpanel, browse to the files and click n them, then on the right hand side of the screen click change permissions Quote
TCH-Don Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 (edited) Welcome to the Family Dan and your new home! Have you tried the instructions on TCH help site for installing Gallery. It may show a step that was missed. Be sure to follow the steps to secure your gallery. If you are using an ftp program, you may be able to change file permission by right clicking and selecting properties. Or in cpanels file manager, click a folder icon to navagate into a folder and click the file name to show options at the right, like CHMOD or file permissions. We really are like family here. So if you need anything, just ask your new family! We love to help Edited June 18, 2004 by TCH-Don Quote

borfast Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 (edited) Dan, I moved your post into the "Installing Scripts" forum, for better organization. Oh, and welcome to the family! Edited June 19, 2004 by TCH-Raul Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 I'm always having troubles with scripts...hehe. I am going through the configuration wizard and it keeps telling me to set my .htaccess to 777, but I do and it still tells me I haven't. Any ideas? Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Error: File .htaccess is not writable by the webserver - chmod it 777 before proceeding. And I've checked it both through cpanel and the FTP, but no luck. Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Well, weird, but after all the changing, deleting, re-uploading, etc. It finally decided to work again... Quote
LisaJill Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Happy you got it working. What may have happened is that it had a problem during the last upload, wrong transfer type or something... I'm happy that you got it working. =) Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 Thank you Lisa!! As always, Rock Sign (I still miss the graphic of the rocks with TCH on em...hehe) Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 I helped a friend install Gallery and is now having a few problems come up. One of the errors is as follows, I can't seem to find it on the Gallery FAQ site. It comes up when you go into view each picture, plus the picture doesn't show as being there, just the box with the x. Warning: key(): Passed variable is not an array or object in /home/macpolk/public_html/gallery/view_photo.php on line 436 Any ideas? I was thinking of reinstalling it for him, but would prefer to try to fix it before doing something like that. Quote
LisaJill Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 (edited) I found a thread about this http://gallery.menalto.com/index.php?name=...bd22cc9d10%2083 It was the only one that I was able to find - it would definitely be worth trying to upload the file mentioned there as that may well help. =) Sorry that I could not help more... MoonFaery Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Thank you Lisa! I would try to work on it this evening, but I need his admin pass. It is odd though, I installed mine without a single problem and used the same copy for his, even walked through about 75% of it with him at his home. Yet he is the one that has the problems... He is even installing it on space I have given him from my reseller account Quote
LisaJill Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 It's very possible that it got uploaded in binary or something else silly and that re-uploading it in ascii will fix it. Definitely worth a shot =) Quote
MoonFaery Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 Oh good point Lisa. I'll definitely try that also Quote
