waynemac Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Gidday all...am just wondering if the awstats module is operating in realtime or at interval updates. Sometimes I check it during the day and there are no changes that I can see. Things like # of visitiors etc dont seem to change often even when I see people are online. Also awstats seems to be working on US time. Im in japan so the day/date change over is quite different. Is there something to change the time region? Wayne in sweaty Japan Quote

AWStats updates once a day, to keep server loads to minimum. If you want to manually update your stats, here is what you do. Find you awstats folder.(it's outside of publichtml in the temp directory) You need to find and edit awstats.yoursite.com.conf Change AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=0 to AllowToUpdateStatsFromBrowser=1 Save and Set the permission for awstats.yoursite.com.conf to read only (chmod 444) to prevent server from over writing changes Now when you open AwStats in cPanel there will be a link next to the date that says Update now This can have an adverse effect on a server in a shared enviroment if you update several times a day. If you feel the need to use this option, please do so responsibly. Also awstats seems to be working on US time. Im in japan so the day/date change over is quite different. Is there something to change the time region? There is a plugin, but it does not run on Apache. Also any plugin/change would affect every account on the server. Quote
waynemac Posted June 16, 2004 Author Posted June 16, 2004 Dick, thanx for that. Did what you said and all worked well. Nice to have the update function...and it updates fast...3 seconds. Wayne Quote
DarqFlare Posted June 16, 2004 Posted June 16, 2004 Just a side note... I'm not sure if you're really allowed to do that yourself, but one thing to note is don't do it too often. We can't have everybody updating their stats all of the time and causing server resource use to go through the roof. Use it with moderation. Quote
nibbler22 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 I have a similiar question : How can I configure awstats to update earlier in the day. I used to get the updated stats around 10:00am EST. Now I get the updated stats around 11:45am EST for the previous day. I'd like to see the updated stats in the early morning! Thanks Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Welcome to the family, nibbler22 The updating is done automatically. Quote
nibbler22 Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 Thanks Bruce! My question is how can I get the stats updated earlier in the day, say 8:00 am as opposed to 11:30am? That way I can check the stats prior to going to work! Thanks Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 17, 2004 Posted June 17, 2004 (edited) It depends on what's going on on the server. The program is scheduled to update at the same time every day. If there is something else happening on the server it will run when it can. Oh one more thing. As the month progresses there is more information to process. Being on a shared server you don't know what kind of bandwidth your neighbor is using. As the logs grow they take longer to process. That's another reason the logs are generated at different times during the month. Edited June 17, 2004 by TCH-Bruce Quote
nibbler22 Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 So bottom line is I will have to force a manually update if I want the stats earlier in the day. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 That would be correct. But don't run it to often to get your account suspended for using too many resources. Quote
