Croy Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 I run an online DVD tracking database and have over 40,000 DVD cover images that I need to be able to download from my TCH hosting server to my computer. Unfortunately when I try to FTP them I run into a limit of 2000 files at a time. This happens wether I try to list the files, or even do a mget. Any ideas? Quote
LisaJill Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Gzip 'em and download the gzip, maybe? Then it'd be one big file, though.... I think (but wouldn't know how to)you could set up cron to gzip 'em for ya (since no shell access) and then grab 'em. Quote
TCH-Don Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Have you tried cpanel > backup > Home Directory Download a home directory Backup This should have all the folders from your site. Just uncompress it and goto the public_html folder to find your images Quote
TCH-Rob Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Ditto to Dons idea, heck I download my entire site that way. Quote
Croy Posted May 12, 2004 Author Posted May 12, 2004 Thanks for the tips. The backup worked great. Only problem I have now is finding a good Windows compression utility that doesnt crash Mad!!! when opening a gz file over 150MB (and containing 40K+ file). ZipGenius refuses to open it. Quote
TCH-Don Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 I have only worked with 40 meg tar.gz files I open the gz file and copy the tar file to another folder, then it opens faster. I use Total Commander file manager to do this http://www.ghisler.com/ Quote
Deverill Posted May 12, 2004 Posted May 12, 2004 Winrar works with tars and gz files and is IMO an excellent program. I've never tried a file that big but they have a trial period so it's worth a look. Just google "winrar" - I think it's rarlabs.com Quote
