Bandwidth I hope will become an issue with me soon as well, though after the $5 plan I wouldn't need more space and as $5 gets you 20gig, the $2.50 for 1 gig extra seems a lot, would you consider doing higher bandwidth add ons in the future. I'm upto 3 gig right now, so not rushing too much, though we are adding the downloads bit by bit. But, I'd rather pay more and get your level of service, though I was paying more, getting less and no service, so everything here is a bonus on that

I've been looking into this hard resently. I run a forum with 200+ members who are quite an active bunch. I use ipb 1.3 final with the security patch, but getting this is VERY hard, and no longer supported, the cPanel here has 1.2, which is good enough for most uses. phpBB, seems is easy to customise, but upgrades are a pain. IPb is highly custamisable, as well, but 2.1 is coming out soon, with some new admin features to allow different levels of admin, this is something I'm after. But SMF (simple machines) already does this, with out upgrading scripts etc, however converting has proven difficult for me. On balance, if i was starting from scratch I'd choose SMF, but I think I'll be getting an IPB2.1 licence when it comes out. check out www.invasionize.com for lots of stuff for IPB (all versions)

I found an answer there to this question and it said a password was needed for the MySQL, though I have never been asked for one when setting the DB up. One of the big poblems is I am torn between paying for IPB2 or moving to SMF, if it isn't so easy I'll stick with IPB1.3 and buy 2.1 when it's released. But if moving forums is too difficult it becomes an easy question to answer.

I read that tec support could do that, but I was wondering if I could do it myself...though on second thoughts, when I need to do it I'll get them to do it As for the SMF database, I created one using the adminMySql tool, which worked, then I tried the conversion which trashed it (I go a mail from - Noone in Particuler, telling me so, very friendly, loving it here already)

here we go with my first technical question, please be gentle I'm not that hot on this stuff, so simple instructions please First, I tried restoring a backup of my old site (on another hoster) which i saved as a full backup using cpanel, I uploaded it fine, then it extracted the files, then there was an up arrow with restoring next to it...I left it for nearly an hour and nothing happened. I tried the same with just the Mysql file I'd downloaded, same thing Am I doing something that is only for tch tech support to do? Also can I restore an IPB backup, into IPB without using the cPanal, ie within the admin CP? I've also tried a test convertion from IPB to SMF which says it should be easy, but I get stuck with it asking me the MySql password, and niether my Admin Password or my hosting password upplied by you guys works, is there another password I need or is it IPB2SMF that's at fault. Thanks in advance...

That's an interesting question, is there any way of stacking emails sent this way, as I have a board with 200 members heading this way and PM/Email alerts are used for our newsletter. So the first 50 members get the mail, the rest don't. So options? Can the server send 50, hold the others and send another 50 5 minutes later? Can the IPB forums be set to send 50 at a time? Or would you have to manually send 50 at a time? I'm signed up and this wont make the biggest difference in the world to me, but it would be nice to know my options

ok ok, I'll do it the hard way

but doesn't TCH do a one stop sign up, like other hosts, ie you register the domain at the same time as signing up for the host, so it's only one billing, one company and one form or series of forms to complete. yes I know it's only minor but doing this all in one place makes me more comfertable.

This is a link to another site, but I presume it is your regitry site, however how long before the hosting sign up is working properly to allow be to register a domain at the same time?

I went to sign up, and there isn't an option to registera domain as you sign up, do you have to regiuster the domain, then sign up for a plan?

I read that page, but what I'm getting at is most hosts charge significantly more per month if you don't go for annual billing if you change more or less the same for monthly billing, one it's a selling point, and two it shows confidence in your product as clients don't have to wait more than a month to change host.

Well I've been trying for an hour to find some bad reports on your company. I finaly found one, but I had to look hard, I found a review with lots of customer comments, I thought my Mac had crashed it took so long to load. PS Are you sure you can do monthly subscription for hosting, all the other sites ask for one year up front or you pay extra...

The forums where one of the big selling point for Lunapages, and I was actually about to sign up when someone at rpggateway said take a look here. Well unless I can hunt down some bad reports that hold water, as I did with LP I'll be signing very soon.

Can I pay via PayPal subscription on a monthly basis? 2. Are there script limitations (example Lunarpages wont allow you to host IPB forums (obviously you do as this is))? 3. If I want to upgrade a package, can I do it mid month, and is there an aditional charge for an upgrade.? 4. How many servers are you running? 5. If my site falls over, are the job tickets on another server so I can raise one (sounds daft but my existing hosts job tickets go down if my site goes down) 6. Do you switch your phones off (yes my existing host has done, and is never reachable) 7. How long before I can be up and running with a new domain and web space? 8. What happens if I post a question here that isn't good for totalhosting even if true? 9. Do you use cPanelX foraccount management? 10. Are you using fantastico? Ok, there will be more, I'm a big asker of questions and finally, you have guts putting up your photos, so I guess the service can't be too bad, and as I came here by word of mouth with luck I've found a good place to host, but one bad experience has given me the gitters Thanks in advance
