  1. Here's a thread that helps explain the www and public_html folders: Read this thread As far as all the other folders, I'm sure most (if not all) of them have a purpose, I just don't know what it is
  2. Nope--you don't really have duplicates of everything. If you look at file/directory sizes, you'll notice that the "www" is just a few bytes--think of it as a "shortcut" to the public_html folder--that's why everything is shown in there--it's really just displaying the contents of public_html
  3. Wolf, I don't believe TCH offers it in cPanel, but if it's like most forum software (php/SQL based) there's no reason you couldn't install it yourself--just cant expect them to help you with it (at least not for free) Check with other forums related to the product, you may find all the help you need though
  4. On cPanel, it's not under the "Addon Scripts", but 2 notches lower--it just says "Bulletin Board" (at least on server17) click that, and it should take you to the phpBB setup dialog quick edit--if you would like to see a phpBB in use, visit www.bonnevilleattitude.com/forum they are now hosted here on TCH also (plus I'm the chief moderator, so I gotta plug em every so often )
  5. I vote for leave it the heck alone myself. For those interested, here's the thread from zethilone that asked about it in the first place--he put in a link to a cpanel X demo site (it's in his first post) Original post- click here!
  6. Well, I just went and checked it out for ya, here's what I found: Main page--loaded in ~20 sec, no blurry letters, all looks great Product page--loaded in 47 sec, pictures looked about as well as could be expected Other, Order, Specials, Contact pages--all loaded in <10 sec, no problems viewing anything the only thing that makes the lettering "appear" to be fuzzy is that tan/grid background they used. All load times are on dialup (46.5K right now), using NS7/WinXP
  7. OK, here's my mess:
  8. Thanks Bill ! Do have one question though--I have a phpBB setup on one of my subdomains; is there a easy way to convert it to Invision, or would I have to start over from scratch? (got 150+ forum divisions-don't wanna have to redo them if I can help it, but I have seen posts saying Invision has a nicer admin interface) Thanks again, Jim BTW--it's 4 in the morning-Do you ever sleep?
  9. That fixed it! Thanks for all your help--I just signed up a couple days ago, and so far I'm quite impressed with the level of support here--I spent a month or two going to different hosts checking out their support sections--this place is by far the best! Jim
  10. OK, thanks--I'll give that a try and see what I can figure out
  11. thats exactly what i want to do (my main site is jimzdat.com--I want the forum to be on hybridz.jimzdat.com) the problem is when I go into cPanel to set up the forum, it says "the forum will be set up at this URL:", and lists just jimzdat.com(blank square for directory name)--it wont let me select the subdomain name at the front of the url. Hopefully that makes enough sense for someone to figure out what I mean
  12. Maybe I'm more than a little confused--I managed to set up a subdomain using cPanel without any trouble, and now I would like to set up a phpBB on that subdoamin. When I log into cPanel and go to the "Bulletin Board" setup, it tells me that it must be in a top level directory, but it defaults to my main URL, not the subdomain. How do I set up the forum on the subdomain? Do I have to set it up on the main URL and then move everything, or is there an easier way that I just can't seem to figure out yet? Thanks, Jim
