  1. Houston we have a problem we need your help to solve... The reason I chose SMF was the spellcheck feature. After signup for a new domain and plowing through, I'm quite disturbed to find that the thing I thought was a feature of the application is something that TCH needs to install apparently. I get this error message: Enable spell checking. You MUST have the pspell library installed on your server and your PHP configuration set up to use the pspell library. Your server DOES NOT appear to have this set up. I'd strongly urge to you please consider installing this ASAP as I now understand that this would solve the e-mail spellcheck problem as well. There are more and more tools using spellcheck every day, to run a professional web site - this is basically mandatory for me to compete with my peer sites.
  2. Thanks to cajunman4life - he talked me through the rough spots... Now I need to read through the 18,203 Zillion settings for optimal usage!
  3. Thanks, I will. It would be interesting to see the number of tickets per year divided by the number of installations. Based on my reading of their boards, it seems the majority of trouble comes from the people who overmodify it! We'll see what happens (if I can install it, anyone can!)
  4. http://www.simplemachines.org/community/in...hp?topic=2987.0 Bruce (and the rest of the TCH family) the people at Simple Machines would like you to read and think about this thread...
  5. Hi, Bill, thanks for joining the discussion! Could you expand on why? All my research points to great user ratings and that many people I know plan to use this exclusively going forward.
  6. link removed -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As a present surprise this morning, in my e-mail was a message from the Fantastico team letting us know that as of last night SMF can now be auto-installed by their product. "Fantastico is the leading autoinstaller for CPanel servers with more than 13,000 installations, accessible by more than 1 million webmasters." If your host supports CPanel and has Fantastico installed, you should now be able to install SMF with only a few clicks. If your host does not support Fantastico, you should let them know about it and the fact that many providers give it to hosts for free. Once again, we’d like to thank the Fantastico team for their great product and choosing to include SMF with it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TCH should do this, SMF is totally superior to phpbb. Edit: TCH-Bruce - Link removed as it contained links to other hosting providers. TCH is aware of Fantastico and has discussed using it but there are no plans at this time to do so.
  7. so If I understand this right, I could have users on one main board and some users could be allowed to see a sub-board B and others a sub-board C? Has anyone used/ toyed with the calendar feature? Is it global for all users to post or can it be only for people you designate to post on it. BRUCE - Could you provide that link again? The site in Google is corporate and not as helpful as your link...

  12. Andy, This would seem to be true, however, the database encrypts and/or changes the password to an unreadable form, I'm concerned that putting it in there will be a problem? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got it now, Thanks, Andy!

  22. I've created a blogger account and can't get the blessed thing to upload a page at all it gives me a useless error message. OK, could one of you, blogger it's so easy types step up and walk me through how to do it right? P.S. What are the other blog provider options? I don't think this one suits me well.
  23. Thanks Rob That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure. Cleared up a nice 9MB of space overall. I'd suggest this for any account from the old stats packages days.
  24. what exactly does this www folder do? where did it come from (I don't recall it being there previously) and is it useless or what is now being used instead of public_html???? Some clarification here would be appreciated.
  25. /tmp/analog /tmp/webalizer /tmp/webalizerftp folders? Since I never use these anymore as they aren't updated anymore, I could potentially free up some space this way. Perhaps this should even be done globally?
