I have been doing full backups in cpanel, will this work ? i'm completely new at this.

Everything was working just beautifully, then, I clicked to switch from one template to another(both of which have been working fine) and all my post are gone. I have an error message instead. Anyone know what this is and how to fix it. I still am lost. I'm using Smart FTP, and would like to transfer everything to my computer at home. When in cpanel, I go into Backup I click on generate/download full backup. It then has a menu asking for me to pick the destination. Q: which do I pick? am I a remote server? or what? Q: how do I use the FTP to download to my computer, I'm new at this. Thanks

Thanks Bruce, but I think that somehow miraculously I figured it out. I use SmartFTP, and have heard of people having problems with it at times. I think by pure coincidence it happend when I was trying to install. I thought it was the particular plugins.

I have been having a hell of a time attempting to install either of the two dominate wysiwyg editor plugins there is for WordPress. Both the one based on Htmlarea and FCKEditor will not work for me. I am absolutely sure I have followed the instructions exactly. Q: if possible, could someone with knowledge/experience do the install for me ? If not, could someone please tell me their experience at getting one to actually work?! thanks ron

I feel your pain. I too registered my domain with BlogHosts. I just visited my site that is still running on their server. It appeared. I knew to register my domain with Godaddy but took the lazy way out and let BlogHosts do it. This wasn't two weeks before everything started hitting the fan for people in the forums. Up until that point, I had been reading the forums daily for several weeks before signing on with them, and had been impressed with how cool the community of people seemed. I will never again let someone else register anything for me. I had actually used my name for the domain on this one, with the intent of using it on a business website at a later date. Now, I'm screwed.

Please go to the support pages on the the WordPress homesite. Look for a guy named Podz. He can help. He is the most expert and active on the forum, other than Matt and Moose. I would help , but will be away for the holidays. As to the question of which is best: First came GreyMatter, Then; Moveable Type WordPress goes way beyond Moveable Type. It is the next generation. That is the sole reason for its development in the first place.

Hi everyone, I'm yet another BlogHosts refugee. I signed-up about a week ago, but wasn't aware that so many of my fellow refugees had come to TotalChoice too. Its a reassuring thing. Unbeknownst to one another we chose TotalChoice. It says alot for TotalChoice. Like everyone else, I'm unable to confirm whether BlogHosts is actually doing anything toward transfering ownership of my domain name:ronpemberton.com. I have submitted a ticket to the TotalChoice helpdesk for doing the cpanel-to-cpanel transfer of my site for me, and am looking foward to being back online with TotalChoice as soon as possible. I use WordPress 1.2.1, and I'm curious how many others here are WordPress as well?
