hi, The warning letter when your account hits 80% is a new feature. I am not sure why you didnt get it, as it is a new feature it is not fully documented yet. I donated 2GB of BW to your account and unsuspended it. You really should keep a closer eye on your bandwidth use. Enjoy the 2GB. Ayman

Cron, or Crontab as it is sometimes referred, is an application on the server that is used to automatically run programs. It is generally used for system backups but can be used for any job that needs to be scheduled. The Cron Tab feature in the Cpanel give you Web Access to the Cron program. It is a simple way to schedule scripts to run. You can schedule jobs my the hour, day, month and weekday. THIS FEATURE IS FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY! DO NOT TO ABUSE this feature. In the event that TotalChoice determines that you are abusing the system from your use of this feature, your account could be suspended. If you know how to use Crontab, then you are quite aware of the drain that this feature can cause on server resources. Precautions that you should take are: Limit the number of processes that you run. Do not run processes every minute. Schedule your processes to run between midnight and 5:00 A.M. US Eastern Time. Limit the number of processes that you run. Do not run processes every minute. Schedule your processes to run between midnight and 5:00 A.M. US Central Time Here is a very good source on this - http://www.redhat.com/support/resources/ti.../cron/cron.html Warning: You need to have a good knowledge of Linux commands before you can use cron jobs effectively. There are many way to execute a php script. Take a look at the links I have provided they will guide you.

I am going to be setting a limit to the number of times that our servers will allow a user to check mail. There are certain users checking for mail every 5 seconds. Heck there is one guy on server15 checking every second. This is crazy and is putting a major strain (which is not even neccessary) on our servers. I am thinking one check every five minutes? Thats 13 per hour. Would anyone have problems with this?

Well at least we know the mail server is working. It is possible that you have the spam filtering things in Outlook turned on. I dont use Outlook 2000 so its hard for me to say. Maybe some other user here can give you some input, otherwise when Knucklehead comes in at 4pm I will tell him about this thread. He uses outlook 2000

Give me some more details Domain name and detailed problems. Thanks

I think this is the problem Virtual commands tell the server to start looking for the file from the root directory where it looks for your other Web pages. This is in contrast to the file command, which tells the server to start looking in the same directory as the HTML page that contains the command. In some cases, you might have to experiment to find the root directory for your files by trying out different path names in your commands. For example, if all of your Web site files are in a subdirectory called /cgi-bin/gt/go_to.html,user=ffffffffffff&url=http://www.server.com/~username/www/, you might need to write a virtual command such as: <!—#include virtual="www/ssi/header.txt" —> or <!—#include virtual="~username/www/ssi/header.txt" —> You cannot use an SSI to call up a file from a different Web site. Further, you cannot call files from different parts of your site or another server that cannot be reached via a path from the root directory of the site where the HTML file containing the SSI code is located. BUT I dont think it can parse it correctly until your domain name propogates. Because apache is using a virtual call command to get to your public_html folder when you use the http://server5.*****/~useracount instead of http://www.****** Make sense?

No you only need to pay for the hosting account. You can simply repoint the DNS for the domain name to our servers. Happy New Year!
-
We are so glad you like our services. Thanks for the warning on your website. Sweet site however!!!!

You could set up subdomains for them and give them each a FTP account. Thus giving each employee a webpage. IE: http://johndoe.***** Just to clarify something. Our TOS forbids sites that offer free hosting accounts or free email. However, it appears this people are all working for you so this would be allowed.

Doesnt sound like it would fit in with our plans here at SNH> Sorry about that.

This is not allowed under any of the non-reseller plans. You will need a reseller plan to host others.

http://66.246.43.133/ There ya go Please advise when your done testing, as we need the IP back. This "should" allow you to test your cgi-bin talk about support, damn I rock!

Someone is pulling your leg. This is directly from the site of the registra http://help.uk2.net/faq/dnsmanagement/thed...ictsitself.html I would become irate with these befooooooons. What kinda registra is this that can not perform DNS updates, thats utterly impossible. Tell them you wont accept that for an answer, tell them you want to know how to do this.
-
Hmmm sorry i dont know give me your domain name and I will throw a dedicated IP on it for you to test things out.
-
Yup thats what i thought. You cant run perl using a shared IP address. It just wont work until your DNS propogates. Or you can order an Dedicated IP.
-
John Is that a dedicated IP address or no?

Greymatter scripts are BANNED. They have been found to degredate performance and eat CPU cycles. In the past 24 hours we have suspended two accounts on Server4 for using this class of script. To avoid 2 million "what does this script do" questions here is a link. http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/

You do not get any control over Apache. There is no hosting company in the world that will allow you to "play" with Apache. You would need a "dedicated server" to do this. We do grant SSH to certain accounts depends on why you need it. You are only allowed one username. Sorry if no one answered your emails, not sure why but I dont think we got any of them. Good luck in your search.
