Anyone use a web based personal information manager? I'd like to find one thats web based, so I can get to my information from work, school, vacation and home, without having to carry around a usb key like im currently doing. It doesnt have to sync with anything and I'd prefer it to be free. I've taken a look at WebCal but it doesnt seem to have all the options I want; Contacts, Notes and Folders, Calendar and Reminders. Bound to be a few TCH members out there that use them! Any suggestions? Paul

Is it possible to put an iframe inside a table? and if i do, do i have to give size dimensions for both of them? Also, is there a snippet of code, or a script that i can use to update a particular page just by typing in the new content and submitting it.

Ping no browse issue. Topology: motorola 850g wireless router -> win2k system with a wireless pci card -> same win2k system doing ICS over a ethernet port -> linux machine no firewalls, port forwarding, avntivirus, or spyware i enabled ICS on the wireless adapter (192.168.10.1) which put my ethernet adapter on the same machine to 192.168.0.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 installed simplymepis i reboot the win2k machine and the mepis machine (connected via crossover) computers come up: win2k- wirelesscard- ip: 192.168.10.5 gw: 192.168.10.1 sub: 255.255.255.0 ethernet- ip: 192.168.0.1 gw: blank sub: 255.255.255.0 mepis- eth0 shows- ip: 192.168.0.247 and when i do netstat -rn i get this destination gateway genmask flags mss window irtt ifac 192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 eth0 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 eth0 I can ping server names like yahoo.com and ping ips. Cannot browse by ip or name. I can establish a connectoin with ftp servers from the bash, but as soon as it connects it tries to get the file list and times out. From the bash i can connect to irc servers, but as soon as it finds my hostname it times out. Kweather works. But I've been trying very hard to get this to work and so far nobody has been able to help. The ICS works, I have a windows box i switched with the linux box to make sure. Its not simplymepis, College linux, vector linux, and ark linux all did the same thing. Ping no browse. Hi, I'm trying to learn c# and c++ in a non linux/unix enviroment, but I am hitting a snag with the compiler. Can anyone suggest a good windows based compliter that can do both c and c++ with an easy interface? Prefer a link if you happen to have one :-) Thanks, Paul

Hey thanks, that answered my question perfectly. I was using the desktop changing utility in Redhat/Fedora and it kept asking me to log out of the "x windows system" before it would take effect. When I would log out of my gnome to switch to kde, it would bring me to my graphical user login. http://www.linuxelectrons.com/images/fc1_review/gdm-shot.png Is my login screen, I cant find a place to log out of it, to even get to a boot screen. So I guess when I switch from now on I'll be rebooting (wasnt sure if I should copy and host that image or just link to it, do you guys have a preference on these forums?)

and a commercial just came on that said ants can live for up to 14 days underwater which is alot more worrrysome than my previous post, help!

Hi, I'm learning linux and bits of unix, as I go and I've come across something that I have not been able to find an answer too. To those that know me I'm an isp tech and last week I had a call that I wasnt able to answer concerning linux. I've never used linux or unix before. The question was was if the login screen (take for example fedora) ... if it is considered an xwindow. Out of curiosity I installed fedora and when changing dekstops, between gnome and kde I recieved the message "please log out of xwindows before the change will take effect" (might be off im going off memory) Now I guess this curiosity has gotten the best of me, because I'm still confused about the difference between the "session" login and changing the desktop from using the "desktop switching tool". I know this is a very very basic question but any help would be appreciated. Ive, never used linux before. The question is if the initial login screen to linux, is that a xwindow?

Hi, I downloaded thunderbird because i was curious as to what it looked liked and i figured id be able to help you with your questions. I'm a bit confused about question one, cant you just goto the top of your inbox and click on date? or if that doesnt work goto view/sortby-> date I dont see a dl for the calender, it just gives some code that is specific to the mozilla browser.

Hi, Im having some trouble undeleting some messages that were deleted from my inbox, they were sent to my deleted items folder which got emptied when i exited OE6. Was hoping somoene has come across this problem before and can help me restore the deleted files!

I found out what had happend, incase anyone was wondering, we had taken down the email servers for maintnence and apparently from what Ive been told, one of them didnt completely load up all the way and it chopped off a list of people. Sounds a bit fishy, but hey i dont know anything about servers/software.
-
so nobody has an idea as to whats happening? was hoping someone here had some experience with server side settings and could tell me if it was possible to turn off the smtp functionality of an email account.
-
hehe i know, im the guy at earthlink that he called i submitted a single user problem ticket to some higher level techs, but i know they never let me in on the solution

I had a guy call in this morning and he wasnt able to send emails. Checked all the OE settings (xp) and everything was fine and he still couldnt send. no AV/FW. Created a new identity and setup the email account again (he had 4 email accounts in the other one) and he still couldnt send emails. He can recieve just fine. Theres no error message and all the emails he tries to send gets put into his sent folder and are removed from his outbox folder. For shoots and giggles I logged into his web based email program and tried to send. Same exact problem, it says its sent and gets put into his sent folder. Yet the recipient recieves nothing. I setup his account in my outlook on my machine and the exact same thing happens. His wife can send/recieve her email fine in OE and on the web with the same dial up connection. When I check the server logs I see nothing out of the ordinary. I've never seen anything like this, especially with OE and webmail having the same problem. Can anyone out there shed any light on this? (the problem is only with one email address and we are tried multiple recipients, aslo TA2004 mailbox had the same problem sending as OE and webmail) this is with an earthlink ISP and email nothing to do with tch Thumbs Up Edited a word for family friendlyness

Sadly enough, the old d-link wireless pcmcia(sp?) works fine, i browsed with it for 20 minutes with no problems and then i had my mom browse around for another 40 while i was fixing one of their computers. not a single hangup. i wonder if its worth calling dell and asking them how to fix it. just really sucks having this card sticking out an inch when its already supposed to have an integrated card.

One Of My Clients Received This In There Mailbox
Kaula replied to greatfolios sysop's topic in Open Discussion
its a beagle/bagle variant, and it wasnt sent by you/your domain. just tell them you would never send them attachments is the best way to prevent giving a client a virus. -
i talked to a few other guys with the same laptop and integrated wireless adapter and they too have had the same problem. good thing i have an extra wireless card i can slap in her. i dont like dell anymore

i cant recreate the problem when i have the cat5 plugged into it this is not good news for me

Thanks so much for the responses as I am looking forward to resolving this as soon as possible. The lan we are using, the other three computers including another wireless laptop has had no problems at all and the signal str and on the said laptop.. it shows as high. I've tried the simplist things first like dl a 50meg file from the internet (hehe i was watching modern marvels on the history channel) and transfering several large files over the lan without any problems. Being as it is, I'm pretty partial to something being corrupted with the browser, since i cant recreate the problem. Havnt tried to use another web browser, mainly because its not my computer (sisters, and I'd hate to do anthying that might comprimise*sp?* her system). Normally I'd just say keep clickin that buttin' sis, but shes sending duplicate emails from web mail sites and when purchasing online shes having to resubmit her orders and its charging her serveral times. Please keep the help coming!
