  1. wow... thats sterile.a bit more tidy than mine<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh I don't know, yours looks pretty tidy to me, but I guess the lack of light could be a contributing factor Wow.. my quest for silence lead me to a Zalman CPU cooler and the Antec Sonata case. Your solution is certainly a lot more effective! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I went the Zalman cooler route first too, along with a super quiet PSU, noise dampening HDD brackets, the works My next progression was going to be water cooling until the obvious hit me smack in the face. The only problem I've found is that sometimes I forget to turn off the PC as I can no longer hear it Cheers
  2. Here's my home office setup. I swear I didn't do any cleanup before taking the pic, I love my desktop very clean and tidy Oh and if you're wondering where my case is, it's in the next room. If there's one thing I hate more than mess, it's noise. The pile of cables going through the wall under the desk hook me up and now I'm all quiet ( I know the cables look a bit messy but it's a small price to pay for silence, I only wish I'd done it earlier )
  3. I'm a little late to this thread but I had this problem pop up in January with a client whom I had referred to TCH last year. They had always accessed their site via FTP using IE but in January couldn't get it to work. The solution I found for them was to specify the username in the address. ie "f tp://username@ftp. mydomain. com" (the spaces were only added to prevent the forum from creating a real link, don't use spaces) Has worked for them ever since. I thought maybe TCH had changed something to do with anonymous access but obviously not, none the less hopefully this helps someone. Cheers
  4. Thanks Don but I wanted to avoid having to use any custom web scripts, ftp access was preferred. No matter, it wasn't that important. Cheers
  5. Thanks for going to the trouble of posting links and testing Ayman I had tried the <directory> myself earlier without success, oh well. I wont ask the helpdesk David, it's not that important and I suspect as you do it's probably not something they'd do anyway. Thanks to both of you for your input. Cheers
  6. Thanks guys Some testing reveals that I don't think I'll be able to achieve what I want. Disabling PHP from htaccess works however as that file is in the directory I'm giving access to it's a little pointless. I tried specifying it in my root htaccess without luck. I'd also forgotten about Perl & Python which I'd also need to cater for [or against] Not sure if you could point me in the right direction Andy re: the disabling particular extensions? That would appear ideal if it can be achieved from outside the subdirectory. Cheers
  7. Greetings all from downunder (but don't hold that against me ) Not sure if this is possible or not, but can PHP be disabled for a particular sub domain? I was considering offering a friend an ftp account and some space to store pictures on my account, however for my own protection I would prefer not having to worry about any scripts be uploaded without my knowledge. Is it possible to disable PHP on a particular sub domain or directory? I don't want to install any custom upload software, if it's not something that can be done via .htaccess or similar I'll just say no to the friend. Thanks for any help. Cheers
  8. If you haven't already you'll need to add your local PC as an access host in the mysql admin section of cPanel. Resolve the IP address of your net connection and add that as the access host rather than a wildcard entry. Mysql just assumes 'localhost' is trying to gain access if you're only using the username and password, which of course your local pc is not the 'localhost'. Cheers
  9. Most login problems tend to be cookie related in my experience with phpbb, especially if everything else is working correctly. Make sure you are fully allowing cookies in your browser. Assuming IE, drop the privacy setting in the options right down to allow all cookies or add the domain to the web site override section and see if that helps. Cheers
  10. I'm a SmartFTP user too. For anyone having trouble with SmartFTP not displaying hidden files, here's a tip. By default SmartFTP uses MLSD to get the directory listing. If that's enabled in the SmartFTP options then the 'Show all files [-a]' checkbox isn't used. So goto Tools -> Settings -> Transfer. Uncheck 'Use MLSD if available' and then ensure that 'Show all files [-a]' is checked. You'll need to restart SmartFTP for the changes to take effect. The problem seems to have only come about in more recent versions of SmartFTP. I know I had trouble with revisions .979 & .980 however earlier versions didn't suffer. From what I've read the problem only arises when communicating with PureFTPd servers. Hope that helps anyone who may have been having trouble
  11. Great to hear it worked out Thumbs Up Cheers
  12. Hi planetphillip, I just installed the default PhpBB from CPanel today and it's version 2.06. I don't imagine you'll have any trouble converting across. Cheers
  13. You can ignore this post, I answered my own question. Cheers
  14. Hi all, TCH-Rick took all of about 3 minutes to add a parked domain on top of my main account from a helpdesk ticket (thanks again Rick ) I haven't pointed the DNS settings for the parked domain at TCH as yet because I wanted to ask this first. Can I somehow point a directory name from the parked domain to the same directory on the main account domain? i.e. if a user enters www.parkeddomain.com/dirname they'd get redirected to www.maindomain.com/dirname Reading previous redirect threads I'm thinking the answer is no but would like to know if I'm missing something obvious (which happens a bit ) Any help appreciated Cheers
  15. I'm glad I could be of some help Cheers
  16. Thanks again to all, much appreciated Thumbs Up
  17. Hi feelsome, Hope I'm not butting in here, I only just joined myself but I'm from downunder too If you have a regular savings account with one of the major banks you can apply for a debit VISA card which you shouldn't have any problems getting. (I know of others in the same position as yourself and have successfully applied) It functions exactly the same as a regular VISA credit card but uses your account funds rather than the bank needing to extend you the credit. Hope that helps if the other arrangement doesn't work out
  18. Hi Lianna, Thanks for the reply. I'll be signing up shortly. Cheers
  19. Hi Rob, Thanks for the reply but can you clarify what you mean by 'parked on the other'? One of my domains is a TLD, the other is a 2LD carrying the .au extension. They have seperate registrars. I was planning on moving just one initially, pointing the DNS server information at TCH. If I do the same for the second domain at a later date and let you know to add a new DNS entry, in this circumstance can the email for that second domain also be administered in CPanel? Hope that makes sense? Ultimately two of your packages are cheaper than my current arrangement however it seems redundant. Cheers
  20. Hi, I've read through the pre-sales questions which have answered all but one of my queries, unless I just missed it of course I have two domain names that will resolve to the same site under a single TCH plan, my query is will CPanel manage the email accounts, aliases, etc for both domains? I'm moving from a VPS where I've always had direct access to configuration files and I'm not familiar with CPanel. Thanks, look forward to signing up soon. Cheers
