  1. maybe there's an aol guru around. I had a similar problem when I used a hotmail account for a classified auto ad. . .all the responses went into the junk mail/spam folder without my knowledge. Someone had clicked "report as spam" to an address that came from the reply to form on the newspapers website. . . Yuck!
  2. I have the same problem. . . http://www.chrisps.com/ works. http://www.chrisps.com/index.html doesn't work. I'd start by making sure the page has the /index.html, or /index.shtml extentson if it's going to be your homepage. $0.05
  3. I'm on mx2002 I think, ver6.0 I also still have dreamweaver 3 on my system.
  4. but then again, I jump to conclusions about credit card and/or bank account info . . .call your bank, document your correspondence. Most likely your bank's going to say "yeah it's already been taken care of".
  5. I'm either just lucky or savvy. . .I won't open a link unless I'm expecting it, or it comes from a friend. . .and at the risk of sounding paranoid . . when checking mail in outlook: if I have any question, I right click "properties . .details . .and message source" before opening. The best thing to do is to keep your virus software updated, but still, that's no guarantee.
  6. I had the same problem in outlook. I took care of it by deleting the old profile and creating a new one. for some reason it didn't like being changed, but creating a new one did the trick. Double check your email password & login in the Cpanel, and also that your dns is pointing to the right place. I know, blind leading the blind . .but it worked for me. Madmanmcp probly has the answer.
  7. I know how you feel. . .my brain is full. . .seems like everyday I add new information I lose a little more from the backend. 1965 is nearly gone . . . & unfortunately there's no defrag or backup.
  8. I think the hosting plans page is down for the moment while they get the new servers up, but the basics, prices/specs are on the TCH main page: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/index.html
  9. I've never had any luck with macromedia support. But perhaps that's because, after paying over $1000.00 for a program(s) I don't feel that I should have to purchase another support package just to have simple questions that aren't in the manual answered. and yeah, you would think it would be easy to find the info on a hotkey, but no. $0.02
  10. ouch.
  11. and, I've got an extra 750MB of space on server 50 that won't be used for at least the next 2 months. If TCH wanted to use it for new biz I'd be cool with it.
  12. I just run the tag inspector, and "clean up" under "commands". Like I said, I have more questions than answers.
  13. Bill, You have once again proven to your customers and staff that your priorities in growing TCH are sincere. I hope you look back on this hic-up one day and chuckle: " back in the days when we had to TURN AWAY BUSINESS". Congratulations, Bill and Staff. Rock Sign
  14. Wooohoooooo. I get to be first! I requested this forum from TCH in hopes that users can share info etc. I'll probably have more questions than answers, but I get around the program pretty well. Gary
  15. Don't change your nick, unless it's to "formerly known as" cause otherwise we won't know who you are . . . . Maybe just change your avatar pic to something mean and gritty like my childhood buddy Bobo . . .
  16. I can't tell you how to do it, but put in a "help ticket" and the TCH staff will be all over it. They're the best. https://ssl.totalchoicehosting.com/supportdesk/ Migrating my site took a few days, but went flawlessly. They just suggested leaving my site on the old server until the dns propagation went through. In the meantime, I did some housecleaning and uploaded my site to the new server. If your present server has Cpanel software I think they can do it server-to-server. You can test your site on your new server for as long as you want as long as the dns points to your old server (don't quote me on that one).
  17. Wow, Bruce . . .THANKS! That tutorial is great . . .
  18. I'd like to see a glossary/dictionary of terms (for those of us who aren't so web savvy, but still too embarrassed to ask "what's that?"). Similar to: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/forums/i...?showtopic=4570 but expanded on and pinned in the tutorials . . . maybe a link to something that already exists. Somewhere to go for help with my meta tag/title/keywords mess . . . A tutorial that explains what the robot txt is what it does, how to create it and where to put it . . . A forum for Dreamweaver/Flash users . . . . A compatibility forum where we could find out what our sites look like in different browsers/screen resolutions etc. Spell check in the text entry window. The pre-virus filter would be really great. I know, I know . . don’t ask for the moon . . . (insert the new "gee, I'm an idiot" smiley here)
  19. When I initially looked at TCH I thought: "NO WAY, there's got to be a catch. . .what's THE CATCH?". THE CATCH: Provide your customers with the best service in the industry; treat them with respect (even when their questions seem dumb or redundant). Provide a quality product with competitive pricing. Whenever I've had questions, they’ve been answered. . .When I've had concerns, they've been addressed . . .and always ASAP, usually within minutes. My hat's off to Bill Kish and the TCH staff.
  20. quartet
  21. I know it's a little late . . .but, yes, "shoot the messenger" worked out GREAT. Thanks Alan Thumbs Up Gary
  22. yeah, I suppose I shoudn't jump to conclusions. . .at the same time, I don't use msn messenger or any other (yahoo, icq etc.). It just sucks, and only a coincidence with my server turnover I think. Yes, they are grey popup boxes, and I'm on windows XP/cable. I'll try that link & let you know if it helps, Thanks for the input! Gary After going to that link, I'm going to wait. . .I'm not comfortable downloading any new programs that will disable anything from the almighty software. . .
  23. I'm finding it frustrating that, since I've converted my site and email that suddenly my desktop is barraged with mysterious pop up ads for sunglasses, and, my email addresses are being spammed. Mad!!!
