Opps.. just tried to do the third package and got this error after putting in the Payment info and submitting it: An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator. Should I refresh?

Thanks for all the feedback. We decided to get seperate accounts for each of the domains. Your prices are very reasonable and I can get all 5 hosted seperately for cheaper than I was paying for one at the other hosting company we were using. I'm actually purchasing the packages right now. Only funny thing I'm getting is that PaySystems seems to think I'm ordering the same thing over and over even though each payment is for a seperate hosting package (each has a unique domain). I am getting the individual notices from TCH when I do the first part of the process. I assume that once the payments are processed PaySystems will have individual order numbers and those will be sent to the contact email address I used? The screen that gives tbe unique order numbers from PaySystems doesn't stay visible for long enough to print for my records as I'm re-directed back to the TCH thank you screen. Thanks again for all the help and great service. Nat

Ahhh.. thanks guys. I think I'll probably end up having to get seperate hosting accounts for the 5 sites. I need to have distinct emails addys for each one, so that looks to be the only option. Thanks for the speedy answer Nat

Out of curiosity... how do "subdomains" work and what does the url for those usually look like? If I have a subdomain can I receive email at the domain name of that subdomain? Does that even make sense? Maybe I'll have to split these all up in the end b/c I want email addresses for each company. Is something lijke that possible without buying seperate host packages for each domain name? These sub companies don't need extensive web sites... just about 4 pages each. I want to find something cost effective.

Sorry if I missed it... but I'm going to be bringing a few more sites over to TCH in the next month and I wanted to find out how much setting up a domain alias is? The main site is for our Record Company, but I want the site to contain both our publishing companies "mini-sites" and also the management mini-site. I'd want each domain name to go to the main domian's index page (spash entry page). EG: Main site is: identitymusicgroup.com Within IMG there are 3 other companies that I want mini sites for, but all with their own domain name that points to the identitymusicgroup.com/index.htm page. Couldn't see the charge for that in the hosting plan breakdown. Is this domain alias feature available here? Mucho thanks! Nat

Sorry about that Twisted. That really sux. I sent ya email with a screen shot of hte page so you can see how it is supposed to look.

I'm baffled by it! Oh well. As fir the Zone Alarm thing, not sure if Twisted has it, but I use ZA (the free version tho) and I can always see images fine when it's on. Thanks for checking it guys, I thought I was going nuts for a second!

dam... got that mail error thing again!

Thanx Turtle. This is a big ole mystery. I deleted the original text of this post cuz it was a double post. The post is here.

Fellow TCH member Twisted and I are exchanging web links and have run accross something funny with a page on my site. For some reason he can't see any of the images on this page http://www.natalie-brown.com/nataliebrown/links.htm Now, I've checked and re-checked using several browsers and different systems and I see the images fine... but he asked some of his friends to check it and they can't see the images. All images were uploaded in Binary mode via Dreamweaver FTP. Is there a reason images would not show up? He cleared cookies, cache, history etc and re-loaded and the same image 'no show' thing happens. Anyone have any insight into why this might be happening? This is really strange and I'd love to get to the bottom of it! Thanks, Nat

The streams would be 24kbs and I'd also offer some Mp3 downloads at 128K. I guess my main concern is bandwidth consumption. I have a fair amount of traffic already at that site and expect it to double in the next year. I think 12-15GB might be too small an amount. What is the price breakdwon for adding more GB of bandwidth if I need it? The other host I was considering for that site in particualr offers a 30GB per month pckage at $96 per year. I saw that your highest package is 20GB. I will transfer all the other sites here though as they don't require as much bandwidth. I'd like to have all my sites here ideally, but it's just the one site that concerns me the most when it comes to data transfer.

Ha Ha! Yeah... I'm feeling a new Jill swing vibe comin on

What is the difference between HTTP streaming and dedicated streaming? Is there that big of a difference? How does using HTTP streaming change how you set up the files on the host side?
-
Thanks Andy- I've been averaging 8-10 GB a month. I guess I'd be safe going with the Deluxe Plan to start for the www.natalie-brown.com site. What happens if I go over the alloted monthly GB transfer for thay plan? Can I buy additional GB's to add to my plan if I need more on a per GB basis? Do you know if that Real Audio server is a dedicated one? Hope you had fun sailing! Nat

Cool! I'm sure by now you're entitled to lifetime backstage passes and access... bands/artists ALWAYS remember and respect those that supported them when times were tough and no one really knew about them. Those are special fans and they remain special. Yeah, the best way to partner with a major (if you want to do that) is to self-release, get the licensing credits and build a lot of track record before even thinking about inking any kind of deal. I co-own my own label with my producer/co-writer. So far it's been a great ride. It's tough at times, but I love what I do so it's all worth it in the end. I hope your friends have great luck. This is a harsh business, but one can really do a lot now Independently and sometimes you can even make more profit while maintianing artistic individuality and integrity by going the Indie route. Often something has to "go" when you sign with a Major, and that is usually all sense of individuality or artistic input unless you have already got a solid track record and are considered "viable as is". Of course, it's tough to get radio play and world-wide distribution, marketing and promotion without being attached to a Major label, but you can still do quite a bit on the National level as an Indie artist. You should check out my Music Biz forums and have a read at all the drama that is going on in the business (if that stuff interests you). Take care, Nat

Deborah, I use Outlook and Distribution groups to send out mass emails and Earthlink is my ISP (you can't use Outlook with AOL) and this is how I got over that Port 25 issue to send and recieve email via Outlook (but it shows as my domain name email)... This is how things should look when you open Outlook and go to: Tools > Accounts and click on your email accounts within Outlook: Click "Properties" for your email account and make sure the settings are as follows: GENERAL Mail Account: whatever name you want to show up in the email User Information Name: whatever name you want Organization: whatever organization you want E-mail address: yourname@****** Reply address: yourname@****** IMPORTANT: make sure you CHECK the box that says: include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing SERVERS Server Information My incoming mail server is a POP3 server Incoming Mail (POP 3): mail.earthlink.net Outgoing Main (SMTP): mail.earthlink.net Incoming Mail Server Account Name: your ISP account name Password: your ISP password Make sure you CHECK "remember password" CONNECTION Make sure your connection reflects that you use earthlink etc. ADVANCED Server Port Numbers Outgoing Mail (SMTP): 25 Incoming Mail (POP 3): 110 If you need any further explanation let me know. If you need me to give you instructions to add an account to Outlook also let me know. I just gave you the breakdown for an existing Account in Outlook. As for how the distribution group works... I do up the email an in the To: field I put an address that is something like myname@**** (like mail@mbstia.com) and then I select the BCC: field I click the BCC button, scroll to the distribution list I want to send email to, click "to", click "ok" and then I send out the mass email using whatever address I want to (eg. mail@mbstia.com) That process ensures that no one can see the list of emails that is being distributed to. Hope this info helps. Nat

I'm brand new to TCH and have recently relocated two of my sites to be hosted here. I had some issues regarding the use of PHP as opposed to CGI forms and even though no one really had to help me figure this out I got the most AMAZING help and technical support from TCH. My two sites have transitioned incredibly smoothly, the support has been overwhelmingly amazing and I am incredibly impressed. Sorry for gushing, but my experience with Tech support at other hosting companies has not been stellar. Total Choice is a wonderful company and I am very glad to have made the switch. Price was the main thing in switching over, but I have recieved value way ABOVE and BEYOND my expectations considering the low price I paid. Usually when you pay a low price for something you get low service or quality. I am finding with Total Choice that the price is amazing and the service far exceeds any expectations. Quality, outstanding servie and great value- you can't ask for more Thanks again, Natalie

I just switched two sites to TCH and so far have been quite blown away by the control panel, support and the service overall. I have a few other sites that I'd like to switch over, but my main concern is the ability to stream Real Audio files. The main site is a site for me (I'm a recording artist/songwriter). I have samples and full downloads of my original material available. My current host supports streaming Real Audio and I set that up by having a "realaudio" folder with this type of link: rtsp://frampton.siteprotect.com:1554/inmotionmanagement/realaudio/Natalie_Brown_IMD.rm On my site, I point the file to: http://www.natalie-brown.com/realaudio/Nat...e_Brown_IMD.ram Do you employ Real Server 8.0 streaming as opposed to http streaming? You can see the entire page to understand more about what I need here. I don't have video up yet, but will want to have the ability to host Real Video and possibly Quicktime video in the near future. Thanks again Nat

Got it! Thanks so much
