Man speaks true. Tried swapping out "x" for "Bluelagoon" and got a "404". Upgrading computers is a lot like marriage, don't be surprised at all that will go wrong.

Suggestion: Switch everybody from the Blue Lagoon cPanel theme..

Try a refresh. ...which didn't work. :sigh:

Hi Bill, All my spoofing aside, I'm not about to give you folks a hard time if you miss your self imposed deadline. It's better to have a hosting service that communicates with its customers and hits a few speed bumps when improving service than one that doesn't care about the customers at all. Be the price of a properly installed Fantastico waiting until the 29th, then I'll get it the 29th. BTW, for those of you who don't know which server you're on, log on to cPanel. Your server name will be displayed on the cpanel index page.
-
I will not fault them for being optomistic. Better to be a bit late than to never reach the goal at all. That said, I want my Fantastico!
-
Don't fret, we're just having fun with you. (Looking forward to trying out b2Evolution. BTW, did you folks know there's CMS software out there going for as much $30,000.00? )

Server 382? I hope increased familiarity with the software leads to faster installation on subsequent servers.

C'mon March 27th!

You'll note that the TCH guys love to say hi.

Back in March of this year MTGuru installed MT 3.15 for me. I then went on to merrily blog away. Now I find myself looking at upgrading to 3.2, but ... Let's face it, I'm not the most computer savvy guy in the world. However, I do know my limitations. So I return to these forums with a (really huge) small request, could some kind soul upgrade my copy of MT for me? Now MTG installed my current version for free. Drop me a line with your rates and we'll see what we can work out. And along with the basic install I'd like to get the following plug-ins installed as well. They are: Ajaxify Better Entry Preview Blogroll Builderoo Granular Interface Styling (requires BigPAPI, where ever Six Apart hides it) Notifier OpenID Comments OpenID Server Show System ID Stat Watch Style Catcher Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Just keep in mind I am no code monkey or script tweaker. Thanks for your time. Update: As TCHDavid said below, you can find BigPAPI here (thanks David). I also found out that most every 3.2 plug-in requires the dang thing. Guess you could call it a meta plug-in.

Revised: Give Access To Awstats
mythusmage replied to TCH-Dick's topic in CPanel and Site Maintenance
Small problem, the installation instructions are rather barebones. Where #1 is concerned, what exactly in the file is to be edited? Please explain. I also saw guidelines for making AWStat pages visible to people. Something about chmoding the file or files to 755 and providing a link to said pages. But danged if I can find those guidelines again. BTW, the 'PDF' ... oops, got that wrong. PDF downloaded fine. -
Didn't change the columns. I did add the division tags, with one change. I closed the tag that 'starts' the email address just after it. Thank you David and Tim.

What does it look like on your machine?

HELP! See blog for details.

First, my thanks to Tech Support for installing the YAML Perl module. However, I've said the Hell with the AWStatsreferers MT plugin. It's just not worth it. The author assumes too much, and neglects too much. Stuff him. Not only that, but I couldn't open the dang files to edit them. The app that created them couldn't be found. If you know of any HTML that will allow the listing of referring sites that accesses the AWStats installed on the server, let me know where I can find it. Thank you.
-
Of to the cPanel website I go.
-
Hate to say this, but everything I have available is proving singularly unhelpful. I can't so much as access the perl folder. I can't even get to the first part of the bloody pathway. David, you have my permission to install the scripts and set up the cron job. When done please tell me and I'll install the script into the template. I'll put in a ticket to get the perl modules installed. Thank you. Update: Oops. Found out how to do it through cPanel. If it wasn't for library paste I'd lose my head. I do have to ask, why aren't the modules listed in alphabetical order?
-
I had the feeling. In both cases. So for the plugins folder I need a second bit of script. If anybody knows where I can find that script, please let me know. (Why do some people find it necessary to make things hard for others?)
-
I have returned. Thanks for the help. Just for clarification, my 'cpanelname' would be my user name when sigining in to cpanel. Where an MT plugin is concerned, it goes in the MT plugins folder. BTW, I found the plugin, but the author apparently doesn't know how to explain things. The instructions are, to be kind, incomplete. Below I present the one bit of coding I could find: No second part, no indication if said code performs double duty. If anybody out there has installed AWStatsreferers into their copy of MovableType, could you drop me a line and tell me what you did? (Don't you hate it when people assume everybody has access to the Akashic Memory?) Update: Guess what I found? Lady has full instructions on using cPanel for setting up cron jobs. I recomend that Total Choice Hosting get permission from her to use her cPanel instructions in the Total Choice Hosting FAQ.

Not really, For one thing, it's applicable to the Unix Geek option. The harder option according to cPanel. This is best explained by your doing this... Go to your site's cPanel. Click on "Cron Jobs". You'll see two options, one 'easy' the other 'hard'. The one I'm referring to is the first, 'easy' option. It is that option I seek a tutorial for. When using the easy option what do you do? Think of it as, Cron Jobs for Dummies
-
Been awhile, hasn't it? Movable Type was installed (Thank you, Tim) and I've been busy working on and with it. My thanks to all who responded. Right now I'm looking for plugins to add, and trying to find information on Cron Jobs. I'm getting the impression some people have a hard time explaining things. "How do I tie my shoes?" Hope you're all doing well.
-
cPanel version: X (I think. or whatever the latest installed version is) Option: First. The one with the text field where (I think) scripts are entered plus a number of 'click-on' options. Not the one for Unix geeks. A basic Cron Job tutorial for cPanel is basically what I'm looking for. Something applicable regardless of exact details. Thanks.

Well, actually... I'm only new on this version of the boards. Been awhile since I logged in and posted something. Which doesn't change the fact I'm not about to try installing MT for myself. So If anybody would like to make some extra money, drop me a line with terms and we'll see what we can work out. At present I'm looking to get the free version, then upgrading to the 5 author version later when I have the money. Don't know what the Six Apart people charge, but it's probably not something I can afford right now (disability), so keep that in mind. Monthly payments are doable. Thanks for your time. Update: Almost forgot this part. The plan is to get a second account for the blog itself. My mythusmage.com account for my site, and a mythusmageopines.com account for the blog. $10.00 a month for 1,700 megs of space, 50 (I think) gigs of bandwidth, and two domains. I'll sign up for the second account when I know I have somebody to install MT on mythusmageopines.com. We now return you to your regularly scheduled forum.

I'm hopeless, I'm clueless. I am so not technically inclined. Could the TCH staff install Movable Type for me? If so, how much would it cost?
