Not as funny as these of Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer giving a rousing speech (I guess these are old now, but still make me laugh). http://jokke.dk/media/balmer.html PS: You'll be needing QuickTime to play them, I think.

Many thanks to digirunt for getting me out of a whole on this one. The all new super logo is now online at www.fivetofollow.net CHEERS! Kevin

Any reason to be worried by the contents of: http://www.zone-h.org/en/news/read/id=2986/ ??? Kevin
-
The site will be just a plain white background (at the moment anyway), so I can work around anything suggested! Something hip, cool AND responsible would be good as well - honestly I really have no idea what I want, I suppose I'll just see something and then I'll like it! Cheers, erm, Mr. Bill!

Hi, Bit of a cheeky one I suppose, but my website is hopefully going fully live in the next month, and will require a bit of publicity, and for that I want to create a "corporate image" of some kind. Only one problem with this is that I am wholly rubbish at any sort of artistic talent, and so I'm coming on the scrounge! If anyone can come up with a snappy looking logo for my website (www.fivetofollow.net) I will be very grateful! I am even offering to throw in a free chart CD of your choice (as long as I can track it down on CD-Wow). I really, REALLY do not know exactly what I'm looking for, but something that is good looking to the eye is the main factor. The site, in case you are interested, is following five unsigned UK bands, hopefully all the way to the very top and is not a commercial venture - more of a hobby than anything. Anyway, details of what to do are on the website, so hopefully someone can come up with something and stop me having to use that crappy word art at the top of the page! Now then - get to work Whip Cheers! Kevin Brock www.fivetofollow.net

Problem solved. Don't know how, but checked webmail again (what appears to be a different account) and found about 3mb of mail stacking up - including two of my vital replies! Now it's time for the real work Kevin
-
Oh great, now it doesn't recognise me. Sod it ... I need some sleep.
-
Sounds like it to me as well, just covering any obvious angles! Kevin

Cheers CM - nothing as yet appeared - will check webmail shortly. Mails stuck in cyberspace somewhere! It's actually annoying cos the mails I sent today were the start to my site and now it looks like I might have to ask ppl to respond to another address, which from my perspective would look a bit unprofessional. I know the address has worked in the past, and I also know I haven't changed any settings on my PC. BTW - did you send the test to info@ or kevin@? Cheers, Kevin
-
Yup, tried that - no sign of it

OK, got a mate who has a fivetofollow.net address, and have e-mailed him. He got the e-mail with no problems and replied to my kevin@ address which I still haven't received. However, he also sent a blank e-mail to my info@ address ... which has arrived very quickly. Checked my settings which all appear correct and there are no authentication errors on log in, so does anyone have any suggestions? Using OE if that helps?! Cheers, Kevin

Trying to iron out a possible e-mail problem I have, but if someone can send an e-mail to myself at both info@fivetofollow.net and kevin@fivetofollow.net it would help. It's a long one to explain, but I have CC'd sent e-mails to myself today and have not had them back. I have sent mails from my fivetofollow address to my ISP account, and got them straight away, but mails from my ISP account to my fivetofollow account are not arriving - and now I'm lost as I don't actually know if people I have e-mailed have replied and I haven't got them for some reason. This might just help me (or support) pin any problems down if (when) I raise a support ticket. Cheers, Kevin

That was me by the way

Info found in uk.telecom.broadband.. http://europe.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/0...k.ap/index.html I guess everyone's aware of a MS SQL exploit currently ongoing?! Further information available from BBC website at: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/2693925.stm

Just heard from a friend who runs a website in the UK that they have been told by their hosting company that the whole internet is slow today due to a new virus doing the rounds. Does anyone know anything about this? I've not noticed any discernible difference personally. Kevin
-
Looks like a few people both in the media and on uk.telecom.broadband are a bit sceptical of the business plan of www.freebb.co.uk Does anyone here think it will happen, or one to be steered well clear of? Some random comments (mostly negative): "freebb.co.uk is a trading name of World of Profit Limited" hmm, world of profit ltd? Sounds very dodgy to me." its probably free - but ads may be forced onto you, plus the speed might be capped or throttled etc etc - i doubt you would be getting a PROPER service The T&C's make no mention of of exactly when the service will start but they do mention the fact they will send you a weekly email. This email will contain 'sponsors messages'. Sounds like a good way to get people to register for more spam. Oh ... and here's an added little bonus... Registrant's Agent: Internet Limited [Tag = *********] URL: http://www.*********.co.uk Relevant Dates: Registered on: 29-Dec-2002 Name servers listed in order: ns7.***** 66.246.43.132 ns8.***** 66.246.43.133 There you go! If these guys are for real - surely they would already have some "proper" infrastructure in place at their location. By this I mean - a decent 'net connection hosting their own DNS instead of '*****' and have their web site inhouse - instead of poked out on some crappy '*********' box. So clearly ... no infratructure to host their own kit. This latter comment was also found on uk.telecom.broadband So. If someone from freebb is here and reading these boards, come on and tell us how you intend to do it, it's already quite clear the media are out to shoot you down already ... and whilst you're at it, stick a post in uk.telecom.broadband to try to appease people Kevin Brock www.fivetofollow.net

PayPal rocks as does WorldPay (both accept my naff Visa Electron Card)! Can I just ask ... do you use different credit card processing organisations for the purchase and registration of domains and the purchase of hosting? This will no doubt send shockwaves down the spine of the poor soul in support when I set up my site with SNH but my domain reg went through OK, whereas my hosting didn't (until some poor thing took pity upon my soul with PP) If you are using different processors, can I ask why?

Anyone help me on this, since 1998 I've been using MS Publisher 98 which does just what I need, however, I'm now looking to try something new and learn something as well. What I specifically like about MSP is that the "working file" is all in one place and "save as HTML" does just what it says on the tin! MSP is however a little limiting for adding little things like Flash or little extras I might be interested in using on my new site so if anyone can recommend something simple to use, and easy to learn I would be most grateful. Cheers, Kevin fivetofollow.net

Cheers Mike, Just got worried by the flashing lights you see! They scare me and remind me of the asylum at night-time. Uh-oh...time for my medicine again Kevin
-
Just had a look at Service Status and saw: Server Load 1.02 (1 cpu) with a flashing red button next to it. What does this imply and is it anything I need to worry about? Kevin Brock

Only been here a short while but my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Kevin

Cheers for that ... probably makes no sense to me anyway! Kevin fivetofollow.net
