Zeitgeist Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 I got a page cannot be displayed (I'm assuming timeout) attempting a restore through cpanel. Is there a way to do a restore after just ftp'ing up the .tar.gz from the cpanel backup? or is there another suggested course of action. While I'm at it, does the cpanel do a mysqldump as well? Just full of queries today I am Quote
Lianna Posted March 4, 2003 Posted March 4, 2003 What's the URL so that I can take a look? Was the backup sitting outside the public_html folder when you performed the restore (ie in your user root)? Was the backup made through cPanel? cPanel will backup a MySQL db using the cpanel Backup function, specify the db to backup and it will. Don't know specifically if that's really the same as a mysqldump, but it works dandy. Don't ya just love it when people answer your questions with questions? Lianna Quote
Zeitgeist Posted March 4, 2003 Author Posted March 4, 2003 the backup was created on another host that uses cpanel (not sure of the exact version). when i attempted the restore i browsed to the file on my local machine at the time. if i can upload it to the user root above public_html to restore it that would solve the timeout, is this what i need to do? also the version of cpanel i used did not give me any other option than download daily and i havent pulled it apart to see whats in it if its helpful i can push the backup to the user root and try that, just let me know how to specify the path from cpanel. Lianna Posted March 5, 2003 Posted March 5, 2003 Yes, upload the .tar.gz to the user root (above /public_html). Then open cPanel's File Manager and click one time on the .tar.gz file NAME. On the right will appear a list of options. One is Extract File Contents. Click that link and away you go. Lianna Quote
