I have a site setup with all the files in the "/main" directory. I have a redirect in cpanel set to point to the /main directory, where the index is, and I have the /main directory protected with a lock, requiring a username and password.

When a user goes to log in, he has to enter the user/password information twice. However, if I happen to be in the redirect page of cpanel and click on the redirect, it only asks once.

Can anyone help?

If you are in cpanel then you are already logged in the first time, so the redirect will only need the login to the protected area.

I'm not sure I understand what your goal is though. You DO want the visitor to login twice or would prefer they only have to login once?

And, I think this is something I need to see. Can you create a bogus user that you can delete later and post the URL?

Thanks for taking the time to answer. I only want the user to enter their info one time. Right now, they enter a username & password, hit enter, and the same box appears, asking for the same information again.

I would protect the root directory and do away with the redirect, but cpanel will not let me do that.

I'm stumped

I have a similar issue,

I have a doc (user agreement) that I need to keep secure until it's time to sign someone on to my site. When I use the www.greatfolios.com/docs/gfua.doc link, it requires 2 logins but if I use the http:\\greatfolios.com/docs/gfua.doc I only need to enter it once. I would like to keep it as simple as I can, any ideas?

I can't help you with your question, but I did notice that the bottom image on your "not allowed" page is pointing to a file on your home computer and therefore isn't opening. I know...not much help... :(

Bill (McCord),

I'd like to see for myself what happens if you wouldn't terribly mind. If you would like to email me the username/pass to use, the URL, your cpanel username and pass so that I can see how you have it setup, then I would be happy to look into it. Again, just as I told Bill_USA, it just doesn't sound right.
