webgyrl Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Just wondering about this... I use Dreamweaver... when you define a site and choose FTP upload they ask you for your host directory. What is the difference between using www/ and using public_html? Is there any difference or a prefered way of naming? Thanks, Nat Quote
btrfld Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Hi Nat. I believe www is a symbolic link, and you should use public_html. Jim Quote
!!blue Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 I remember reading somewhere in the forum that the "www" folder is like a backup of your actual site under "public_html." So, yes, link Dreamweaver to the public_html folder. later, !!blue Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 9, 2004 Posted April 9, 2004 Jim is correct "www" is a symbolic link but you should use "public_html" for uploading. Quote
