waynemac Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Seems my phpBB script has mucked up somewhere. To rectify parse problems etc, is it possible to just trash the current (errored) phpBB folder of files and untar another new in the same location? Databases are all correct. Wayne Quote
TCH-Rob Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Wayne, I havent done that with phpBB but I have done it with osCommerce. The end result was just fine. If you have customized the files you are replacing you will need to redo it though. Quote
borfast Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 As Rob said, you should be just fine. I've done that myself a couple of times and had no problems at all. And, again as Rob said, if you had some modified files, you'll have to redo the modifications. Hope you manage to get everything working again Quote
waynemac Posted March 30, 2004 Author Posted March 30, 2004 Thanx for your help last week. I did a back up, then trashed the phpbb folder and untared a new one in place of the old phpbb and wulla!!! all worked well. Fantastic to have things working again. Regards, Wayne Rock Sign Quote
Budman Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 couldn't you just go into phpmyadmin and repair the database? Mind you I am not an expert, and not fully sure that it would work. But have you thought about that? Quote
TCH-Rob Posted April 6, 2004 Posted April 6, 2004 The database wasnt the issue, one of the pages wasnt working, or that's what I gathered from the post. Replacing that page would fix the problem. Quote
waynemac Posted April 6, 2004 Author Posted April 6, 2004 As Rob said, seemed to be a page problem...I had been hacking some code when it screwed up, I then cpoied and pasted from a native code but that didnt work. In the end, replacing the whole top plate file did the trick. The bottom side db was fine. Thanx for all the input. I`ll be back...later than sooner hopefully. Wayne Quote
