I'm having a big problem with my phpbb.

I can only have one reply to a topic, and after that, when someone clicks reply, it gives a blank page.

I've looked at the PHPBB support forums, and seen a few topics on it, and I haven't seen any have a definitive answer for this problem yet. One of the things they talk about is a "zend optimizer"?

One person replied with "If you get your server to move you away from the Zend Optimizer all of these errors go away"

could you guys tell me:

  • What is a Zend Optimizer?
  • What will be affected if I "move away from it"?
  • is the version that installs through the one click through cPanel 2.0.6 or 2.0.6d?

Thanks in advance for your help.

OK, further research has told me that this "Zend Optimizer" doesn't play well with phpbb, and it's something that is on the server... (I'm on server 60, btw) So, since I only have myself and one other person registered on my forums right now, I'm going to try switching over to the invision board and using that one instead! :(

jsull, Zend Optimizer shouldn't interfere with phpBB in any way. I find that very strange. Can you point me to the page where you've read that, please?

I can tell you with almost 100% certainty that the two of them are perfectly compatible.

Zend Optimizer was made to work with PHP, to accelerate it, it wouldn't make much sense if it'd break scripts just like that. :(

Iam also having lots of phpbb problems and Iam on server 60 as well. Im not sure if its just server 60 with php issues but anyhow I submitted a ticket and TCH are fixing it as we speak.

OK, it seems that you were right after all. My apologies. This was indeed a problem in Zend Optimizer but it has been fixed.

Still, keep in mind that Zend Optimizer should not interfere with any script unless, of course, there's something wrong with it.

So this means you don't need to worry about it being installed.

In fact, it's good, because it accelerates the PHP engine :)

Very glad the problem was taken care of! ;)

After setting up skins on both, I think I'm happier with the invision board actually. Seems much more powerful and for some reason my invision board just looks nicer than my PHPBB one.

Thumbs Up

I have installed and use both. Invision has more features and is more powerful in my opinion.

I really like the simplicity for the normal user PHPBB provides though. Invision is incredibly powerful, and offers lots of options, but I still get slightly confused as to where I am sometimes navigating a large board.
