I just signed up with TCH. I currently have a domain name registered w/ enom. I also have some email accounts at enom associated w/ the domain name (person1@****, person2@****....). These emails currently forward to emails accounts at my ISP.

What is the best way to transfer over the domain name and email addresses to TCH. My main concern here is having down time for the email addresses. I dont want to loose any emails from clients.

Many thanks for the advice.

:) Welcome to the family Ed ;)

It sounds like you just have the domain name,

so I would point it to your name servers here as listed in your welcome e-mail.

Then after it propagates (all the name servers in the world update) about 72 hours,

remove the forwards at enom and if you want you set new forwards here to go wherever you want.

I am sure tech support will have a better explaination soon.

Glad you are here, and don't be a stranger :)

Don thanks for the reply. I think that what you say is correct.

I have already recreated my email address here at TCH. Then after that was done I started to point the DNS to at enom to TCH. But then I started thinking about the time when the domain name is propagating. What happens to email then? Is there a way to catch the emails or will they be bouncing back to my clients during the propagation?

Hopefully tech support will have a detailed answer. I think I'll to do some reading on the whole propagation process while I await their reply.

You shouldn't loose any emails. During propagation, there is never any time where your domain does not exist. Whenever someone sends you email, they will either get the enom address, or the TCH address. As long as both systems still handle mail themselves, your mail will still go through. Just make sure you don't remove the forwarders at enom for a couple days.

its simple, keep your maiul client set up just like it is now, add a second account using the IP address of your TCH account as the incoming and outgoing mail servers. That way during propagation no matter which "account" your mail get sent to, you'll still get it.

Once DNS propagation is complete remove the enom account from your mail client.
