evengstr Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 Greetings! I came across your site looking for a hosting solution for an RPG that I am a part of. This is for a roleplaying group of 500+ members. We receive several thousand hits per month. We will be installing a Content Management System (probably typo3) Requirements for that follow: ImageMagick GDLib (1 or 2) Freetype (1 or 2) Shell Access Will need unlimited FTP accounts for our subsites (70+) Having them on subdomains is fine. We will also need unlimited email accounts, we use these to defray the cost of advertisements for our group. We need unlimited mailing lists, preferably majordomo or majordomo2, scripted to add prefixes to mailing list subject lines, and prevent those prefixes from being repeated on responses to the lists. We also need to keep archives of these lists. We can also use mailman. We'll be creating our own "house" web interface for the mailing lists using php. Cron access is nice, but not necessary We do need shell access (telnet) but not root access A control panel is greatly preferred Since this is a not-for-profit org, total costs must not exceed $250/year. Most of our members are 'poor college students' so of course lower costs are greatly preferred. We will happily do referals to our provider as well. Any help finding a suitable host is GREATLY appreciated! Quote
TCH-Dick Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 We can do all of that but the shell access, we no longer provide shell access on any accounts. Quote
evengstr Posted February 23, 2004 Author Posted February 23, 2004 Hmm... Alright. Unfortunately, the shell access is necessary to install typo3, with a modification or two for our specific needs. Would your techs/admins be able to help with that? Also, what account type would you recommend to meet our needs? Thanks! Quote
DarqFlare Posted February 23, 2004 Posted February 23, 2004 Anything that you'd need shell access for, you can have a TCH tech get it done for you. As far as a plan goes, it really depends upon how much bandwidth and space you'll be using. I would suggest, since you're going to be running an RPG, one of the dedicated plans. Quote
