If you ever needed to allow someone else FTP access, you would be able to give them their own username and password. That's the main reason I can think of. Anyone else??

I use multiple FTP accounts on my hardware site, i have one staff member in Canada, another on the west coast and one more around the New York area, it is a LOT easier to just give them an FTP account that they can upload all of their pictures for their reviews, rather than for them to e-mail them to me, that way they are already on the server and ready to go all i have to do is post the review they send me.

Evan, in addition to allowing others the ability to FTP it gives you the option of security. You can allow them access to certain areas and deny them access to others.

Joe can access files from his areas and Joans, but not get access to yours.
