Virtual Imager Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 Strange.... I have an internet connection, I can receive email, but when I try to send I get the dreaded gray box telling me my smtp server (smtp.west.cox.net) is not responding. Then I get this from Outlook Express: The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's e-mail address. The sender's e-mail address was 'randy@virtualconceptions.com'. Subject 'Re: Important re Women's Health', Account: 'virtualconceptions', Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '450 Unable to find virtualconceptions.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 450, Error Number: 0x800CCC78and then this: A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'test', Account: 'virtualconceptions', Server: 'smtp.west.cox.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19 Any idea what's going on? Why, if it's not responding, can I receive but not send? Is the problem on my (our) end or is it just Cox that's messed up? Mad!!! VI Quote
ThumpAZ Posted January 29, 2004 Posted January 29, 2004 That is Cox blocking port 25. Change your email server to your domain name here and all will work. If not, then keep your domain from here and change the port to 26. EDIT: Oops You are trying to use SSL to send email. turn that off and only use the "My server requires authentication" tick box first. Quote
Virtual Imager Posted January 29, 2004 Author Posted January 29, 2004 Thanks for the reply, neighbor.... Whatever it was, it started working again about an hour after I first posted and all seems to be well now. VI Quote
ThumpAZ Posted January 30, 2004 Posted January 30, 2004 Could have been related to the server stuff they were/are doing? I have been having issues with sending mail through Outlook today as well. I typically am just unable to connect or it times out/resets the connection. I am so used to MS products being glitchy that I barely notice it. Quote
