ncciaau Posted January 10, 2004 Posted January 10, 2004 I am trying to have two people to help admin the ncciaau.com web page. We all have FP and have tried to connect to the server and add a account to that web page. It keeps telling me that that account was not set by this program and can not be completed or something like that. I have set up subweb and put permissions on it. is there a way to set up or make another admin account on the public html dir? tks for your help. Mike Quote
ncciaau Posted January 10, 2004 Author Posted January 10, 2004 this is the error I get The password file "/home/ncciaau/public_html/_vti_pvt/service.pwd" was not created by this client program and cannot be edited safely using this client program. mike Quote
Deverill Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 I don't use FP any more but it sounds like there is a file where FP stores the passwords but it can not identify it as its own file. In other words, the password file is not in a format FP recognizes so it gives up. I know it's not much help but hopefully it will get you in the right direction. Quote
ncciaau Posted January 11, 2004 Author Posted January 11, 2004 I know that. the account that TCH set up for me is the only account that is set up. I was just wondering if I could see about getting another Admin account set up for the web ncciaau. like the account that was sent to me when I opened my account. the people that will be helping on the web page are not too good with FTP. Pls help. Mike Mikelamb@nc.rr.com Quote
Deverill Posted January 11, 2004 Posted January 11, 2004 Sorry, I don't have the experience in FP to help on this one. Perhaps browsing or posting in a FrontPage support forum would help? Of course, someone here may come along and help too so don't give up on this forum yet - we have several FP users that are active here. Quote
Lianna Posted January 12, 2004 Posted January 12, 2004 FrontPage and subdomains You can create subwebs off the main site using the FrontPage server admin tool. Check out the relevant menu item in FrontPage to do that. In FP2002 it's under Tools > Server. In FP2000 you just right-click the folder in the main web you want to make a subweb, and click create web. Then go to tools-security-permissions to set the author, administrator, etc... You can find more here: http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/fpinfopage.htm No, it isn't possible to set up another admin account for your domain. Quote
ncciaau Posted January 13, 2004 Author Posted January 13, 2004 tks for all of the information. That was the question I needed answered. I will just have to have them use ftp. Mike Quote
