lizzyS Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 I want to move my personal domain to TotalChoice but I need to be able to run TikiWiki on the site. I have tried installing it on my other domain and I can't get it to work. Do you have a wiki that you recommend for use on this site? I wanted to use TikiWiki because of it's expanded feature set. I have installed it successfully on a number of other unix sites, so I am not sure why it won't run here. Thanks a lot Liz Sommers liz@gorb.org
Head Guru Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 TikiWiki sounds like a Don Ho Song I have never attempted to install TikiWiki. I did a google on it and it appears to be a CCS thats in beta?
TCH-Rob Posted January 5, 2004 Posted January 5, 2004 After a fight I was able to get it installed, worst 30 minutes of the day. My first problem was trying to install from a zip file and not a tar.gz. I uploaded the entire tar.gz, unpacked it, created my db and ran the query and then edited the tiki-db.php file. I still don't know what it is supposed to be, it reminds me of nuke or maybe a 3 column MT.
lizzyS Posted January 6, 2004 Author Posted January 6, 2004 Thanks so much to both of you. I use TikiWiki in addition to MT. It gives me more stable file and image galleries, along with all the wiki functionality. It actually got an award from O'Reilly this year. It was pretty lousy last year, but has become pretty stable. It would be nice to see a wiki that you know will work in the tools menu. WikiWiki is the standard. I will transfer my domain as soon as I can. Thanks for your service Liz lists@gorb.org

TCH-Rob Posted January 6, 2004 Posted January 6, 2004 Liz, I got it installed, I dont know what to do from there. I removed the folder on my account space and uploaded the file tikiwiki-1.7.4.tar.gz. I unpacked it, created the database and ren the sql and it worked. I did the exact same thing with the .zip file and got errors. So you may want to try it with the tar.gz file instead. You can see it here http://www.reservoirblogs.com/wiki/tiki/tiki-index.php I created in inage gallery but I dont know how to get it to show yet. If I log out I can't see it. I have no idea what I am doing with it yet.
lizzyS Posted January 7, 2004 Author Posted January 7, 2004 You can't see the image galleries because you didn't set them visible to the basic (anonymous) group. Everything can get individual permissions - or you can just say when you are setting up your permissions that ALL image galleries will be visible to foo group. The documentation unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired, but I understand they are writing all new doc for the new release coming out. Liz
TCH-Rob Posted January 7, 2004 Posted January 7, 2004 OK, I am starting to understand it. Now I can see the gallery when not logged in. There are permissions all over the place for this.
