How reliant is this hosting on CPanel?

My firewall blocks access to just about every port so I can't use CPanel at all. I am, however, able to use FTP. Would I be able to set up a webpage without anything special on it using FTP and nothing else? I'm currently deployed to Saudi Arabia and I have no way of getting on a computer without those restrictions but if I can set something up (I REALLY need something to do!) I'd gladly sign up for the service now instead of waiting 5 months.

Yes, you would be able to set up the web site without anything special on it. You would only have one email address, since you would need cPanel access to add additional email accounts, but if youi could ftp your site up, it would not be an issue about getting it online. Maybe, at some later date, you would be able to get access to cPanel, and add some of the 'bonus' features, that are only available by cPanel access.

Do you have someone trusted back here that you could appoint as your admin. They could log on and then change stuff for you.

FWIW, i cannot access cPanel from work, only from home. If anyone knows a work around to that problem let me know.

I do believe I'm sold. I should be home by June but I think I'll use robok's idea in the mean time. Thank you both for your help. :)

robok-

I believe the only "work around" is to contact your network administrator at work and ask them if they can open up the appropriate port(s) for cPanel (2082) or WebMail (2095).

FWIW, I do online checking with Bank of America, and at one of my contract customer sites, I am unable to access BOA, nor am I able to access a Verizon 'webmail' account from there.

Unfortunately, the name of the game is security - on both sides - here at TCH, there at your company's office, and everything in between.
