MothaCuss Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Alright, i'm having alot of difficulty with setting up my site. First is mail. I tried doing that outlook express thing and it won't connect to the server. It says it doesn't exist. I checked the tutorial and did everything exactly how it shows, and i shouldn't have even had to change anything cuz i downloaded the registry entry for that particular mail account. Here is the error message: The host 'mail.freecityskates.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'brett@freecityskates.com', Server: 'mail.freecityskates.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D Ok, second problem. I tried to create a re-direct to the mail page. I really don't know if this is possible, but i tried it, and it just says that the re-direct that i created doesn't exist. My site is www.freecityskates.com, and i created an extension /mail that should take you to the mail logon screen, but it doesn't exist apparently. Third problem. I tried creating a guestbook but now i can't edit it. It says it doens't exist. Those are my problems for now...maybe i'm just retarded, can someone help? Quote
MothaCuss Posted November 19, 2003 Author Posted November 19, 2003 oh yeah, i forgo, the ftp doesn't exist either. I did ftp.freecityskates.com and it doesn't exist. Quote
TCH-Rick Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 It doesn't appear that you have changed the nameservers to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com as mentioned in your welcome email. This has to be done with the registrar of the domain for the domain name to point to our servers. Quote
TCH-Dick Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Hi, There are several reasons why things arent working, the most important being you havent changed your DNS settings to point to ns1.totalchoicehosting.com and ns2.totalchoicehosting.com, you can do this by logging in to your domain name control panel wherever you registered the domain name. right now your domina name is set to forward to www.members.shaw.ca/dmclain/LOGO6.html In the welcome e-mail it says you will need to use the IP address to access your domain as well as the cpanel for your account until DNS propagates, which normally takes 1-3 days, but, DNS wont begin to propagate until you change your DNS settings, E-mail will not work using your domain name until DNS has propagated, you can use the IP address that was provided in the welcome e-mail you received to access your e-mail. MothaCuss Posted November 19, 2003 Author Posted November 19, 2003 Thx guys, i changed my dns thing. I figured it had something to do with that. So now i gotta wait 3 days? Or i mean, 1 - 3 days till i can start working on all this? Quote
TCH-Dick Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 No, you can access your site, cpanel, ftp and e-mail by using the IP address and instructions provided in the welcome e-mail Quote
