Hi,

A friend of mine is gonna be a TCH-customer soon but i am the one who will design and maintain the site. Its a website for a unicycle club.

 

Is she allowed to provide emailadresses for the members, like membername@unicycleclub.com

 

If so, is there a way to implement it as a part of the site, so the members can check their mail when checking the site in general?

Email addresses are unlimited so I don't see why they couldn't create member addresses... However, due to spam controls and server resources, they limit the amount of email traffic that can happen per hour (Outgoing).

 

To access your email address in a web environment, use http://www.unicycleclub.com/webmail/

Thomas, have you looked at Squirrel Mail?

you can see it at www.******/sqmail/

It might be easier for the members to use.

Hehe... didn´t know i had a squirrel on my site (and soon my friends) .

If using that squirrelmail, will the members have the option to register their own names before the @unicycleclub.com or do i/we need to set each up manually.

In a way i prefer to set it up so it can be restricted to members only but yep, I am a little lazy so for that reason it would be good if they could register themselves.

You would need to set them up individually.

 

There is a risk to be aware of as well in this type of application. If someone decides to use their email account in a manner that is in violation of the AUP it can result in the whole site being suspended. It pays to be careful in allowing users to have an email account.

I don´t think that will be a problem, but its good to know. I know that if any of those members do anything wrong, they will (I think) be kicked from the club.
