surefire Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 No, this isn't a commercial. Firebird is a free browser (opensource) that is distributed by Mozilla. I started using it about six months ago and can't say enough great things about it. Version 0.7 came out recently and I can already see big improvements. If you want a list of reasons why you should switch, visit Mozilla Firebird My two favorite reasons: it automatically blocks popups, and you can browse several pages at once with tabs rather than new windows. KingWinky Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 I recently started using Firebird, and I like it a lot. I also use Opera, and there are some featured of Opera I wish Firebird had, like the ability to moved the address bar, tabs, etc to the top, bottom or sides of the screen, and of course, the mouse gestures. I never use IE anymore. Firebird and Opera are simply much faster and more stable. Quote
Deverill Posted November 16, 2003 Posted November 16, 2003 Check out optimoz.mozdev.org/ for a mouse gesture add-in. Quote
JesseD Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 Unfortunately, my system and Firebird did not get along well and I had crash problems the entire time I was using it. But I used it for several months that way, which is a testament to how much I like it. I try each new version when it comes out but so far have had no luck resolving the problems. In the meantime I'm using Opera. Either of the above is preferable to IE in my opinion. Quote
!!blue Posted November 19, 2003 Posted November 19, 2003 I *love* using mozilla Firebird! And now that I have the extension that saves my tabs I love it even more. The *only* problem I've ever had is when I visit A List Apart I can't scroll their pages with my mouse scroller; which is a bug of Mozilla that they're aware of cuz I emailed them . Visit Firebird for extensions and themes (skins). later, !!blue Quote
