golfjr Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 My sons want their own completely different domain names (not subdomains).. If I get the "starter" or "silver" account how many separate domains can I host? Do you have a suggestion? I thought it would be reasonable to have one family account and multiple domain names. Thanks, Quote
TCH-Andy Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 Hi, I would suggest the simple reseller package - it's the one I use for the family site. You can then have as many domains as you like, so you can give them a domain each, but you retain overall control On the starter or silver accounts, you can have multiple subdomains, and multiple parked domains (all pointing at the same space) but you can't have multiple seperate domains. Hence my suggestion of the reseller where you can. Andy Quote
golfjr Posted November 4, 2003 Author Posted November 4, 2003 Well, a reseller is more than twice as expensive as the starter. Two starters would be better. Why don't you guys develop something a little more than a Starter...or charge $3/mo for additional domains...or have them unlimited as www.inexpensivedomains.com does. Quote
TCH-JimE Posted November 4, 2003 Posted November 4, 2003 (edited) Hi, We don't offer addon domains for one very simple reason. With our servers, there are say 100 accounts (random figure please note), and hence we know that there are 100 domains on that server and we can therefore handle the server loads at the touch of a button. Now if you start adding in "add on domains" it all becomes very tricky, its difficult to keep track of how many domains are on the server, it could suddenly shoot up to 800 domains, and it makes handling the server loads very tricky. Instead we limit it to one domain for each account so that everyone else on the server can enjoy the stability of decent low server loads. Reseller accounts are very handy because on these you can have as many domains as you have space, and you can tailor them to all our needs Jim Edited November 4, 2003 by Jimuni Quote
