samporras Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Hey guys. i'm new to web development . I've created my site and uploaded all of the pages and pictures on to the public_html folder. I've also pointed the domain name to TCH servers. When I type in the domain name, i'm directed to this directory that shows all of the files that i've uploaded. How do I get it so that it goes right to my index.htm page right when i type the domain name? If anyone can help, it would be great. Thanks. Sam Quote
Deverill Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 If you have an index.htm page in your public_html folder it should show that. Do you mind sharing the link so we can take a look? Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Also make sure it is index.htm not Index.htm Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 Your index.htm file is named vcindex.htm Just rename it plain index.htm and change the links to it as well. And Welcome to the family Quote
TCH-Dick Posted October 18, 2003 Posted October 18, 2003 lol turtle beat me to it, just came back to say the same thing Quote
samporras Posted October 19, 2003 Author Posted October 19, 2003 thanks guys! I really appreciate it. You guys don't know how excited I am to start creating more web pages. I think i'm addicted. By the way, what do you think of the site? www.venuechicago.com Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 19, 2003 Posted October 19, 2003 your logo is still linking to vcindex.com >[img=logos/Vred.gif] Very nice, clean, fast and nice use of the Iframe! Although the content fits my 800x600 display there is a horz scrollbar. All in All nice look. Thumbs Up Quote
samporras Posted October 20, 2003 Author Posted October 20, 2003 Sorry I didn't respond last night. I noticed that some links were still linked to vcIndex and fixed them today. Thanks again for the advice. Hey, do you know any good books for learning DHTML?? I really like what you can do with it and it makes sites a lot more fun. Quote
TCH-Don Posted October 20, 2003 Posted October 20, 2003 As to the content not fitting in 800x600 your style sheet sets both table padding and margins try removing the table margins TABLE { PADDING-RIGHT: 5%; PADDING-LEFT: 5%; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 2%; PADDING-BOTTOM: 5%; PADDING-TOP: 5%; TEXT-ALIGN: left; /* MARGIN-LEFT: 9%; MARGIN-RIGHT: 9%; */ } it seem to work for me.
