I've got the oddest problem and I'm hoping that someone here might have a clue to how/where I can start to look for a solution.

I can get to none of the jpg's at my friend's website. Three examples are:

http://www.wonderboymi.com/vwaffle/4091.jpg

http://www.wonderboymi.com/vwaffle/4003.jpg

http://www.wonderboymi.com/vwaffle/3967.jpg

On my home computer - DSL, WindowsXP Pro, no other problems of any

kind that I know about, the above URLs all give me the message like "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /vwaffle/4091.jpg on this server." Doesn't

matter if I'm using IE6 or Netscape 7.1.

I get the same thing if I also try

http://www.wonderboymi.com/vwaffle

http://www.wonderboymi.com

I cannot find any other soul who gets this error AND even my work computer

can see the images with no problem. So it's got to be something on my

computer (XP Pro) or my access. I've tried disabling Norton Anti-Virus protection, I've tried disabling the firewall. I've run three different spyware killers. Nothing works. (I'm not using any router - staight DSL wire from phone jack to net card.)

Anyone have any clues or even an idea of where I can start looking?

Hi Susan,

I see the site and the images you posted links to just fine.

I get the same message you see when I try to view the image folder

I would guess that the folder for the images has no index turned on the prevent seeing a directory listing of files.

I understand about the directory listing not being accessible (I only really included those two links as further evidence.) It really shouldn't be.

But whereas you can see the images just fine, I cannot at all.

When I point my browers to http://www.wonderboymi.com/vwaffle/4003.jpg for instance, I get the Forbidden, access denied message... in both IE and in Netscape.

Don't get broken images in any webpages anywhere else. This is making me crazy.

Any clues? Any ideas where to start looking for clues?

Hi,

I would have a look at the hotlinking protection in the .htaccess file. If you just rename the .htaccess file to something else, then test it - you will be able to quickly determine if it is something there. Then you just have the challenge of working out which line :)

Are you sure your friend wan't just playing a practical joke on you?

By blocking your IP address on certain images, it would be sure to drive you crazy!

Not at all out of range for some of my prankster friends but this guy wouldn't have the foggiest idea of how to do that. He was so mortified that I couldn't see his stuff and so grateful when a fix was found.
