Mail accounts are continually going unavailable then coming back on. Message that certificate is untrusted Frequently pops up. Message that can't connect with the mail server entire your password continually pops up then goes away. This is happening on separate servers at total choice and on multiple accounts. Have put in tickets and had servers restarted to no avail

Welcome to the forums Almallette :)

Certificate errors usually occur when you are connecting over secure ports and using your own domain name on a shared server which is what the certificate is tied too. If you want to eliminate the certificate errors instead of using your domain name use the server name for the incoming and outgoing server names. Or get your own certificate for your domain.

Thanks Bruce for the info on certificates. We did try that earlier and it may have cleared up the certificate problem but it didn't resolve also losing connection to email and then having it connect again on it's own. What's confusing is we have been going along for years without these problems and then all of a sudden we are getting email issues. Other clients who are on Total Choice on our recommendation are getting massive volumes of spam, and continual requests to enter name and password. These issues may be unrelated but they are all happening frequently. And most of this has started occurring in the last month or so.
