phatfunkjazz Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 One thing that really bugs Yuck! me about all the web hosts I've used (until TCH) is the "divide and conquer" (literally) concept where customers don't have a clue who else shares their server. There's no opportunity for dialogue between peers when things go awry. Okay, now that I've said that: My friends have a very successful auction business (mostly antiques); they've had their company web site online for three years now. The web site is a big component of their visibility to sellers and buyers. Like most first time web site owners they went with a pretty big name company to host their site. Their web developer uses FrontPage to do all the work, even uploads using FP (please, she learned everything on the job, how could she know about FP?) Recently they maxed out the disk storage and weren't allowed anymore uploads (no advance warning from the support team) until they upgraded their account...fair enough. Unfortunately, now that they have a new user name FP won't allow uploads. The web developer has spent hours with tech support begging for some clue. To be fair, I FTP'd their site and everything seems okay on the server end. But for a person who knows very little about techie stuff, it's daunting. Their business is suffering, they've asked me to help figure it out. My point is this: IF they had an account here at TCH I am confident they wouldn't have to suffer like this, or pay an outsider to figure out what's wrong. They wouldn't have tech support saying, "It's your problem, fix it on your end. That's all we can do." I'm trying to convince them to at least try TCH for a month, if even just for the support Forums. I know they would be pleasantly surprised. Wish me luck. peace, Stefan Quote
Deverill Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 The "big win" I see of being at TCH is the forums and the many possibly helpful replies you can get to a problem like... "Did they remember to change the username within FP for the web update/FTP settings?" What else could it be, all you FP pros out there? Quote
TCH-Sales Posted September 3, 2003 Posted September 3, 2003 I wish you the best of luck getting them converted over to Total Choice Web Hosting! Spending hours trying to drag an answer out of tech support? Good thing that sort of thing does not happen around here! Quote
