Woah! I thought I had solved my email problem a few days ago... but another "almost at capacity" message came to my partner's address at inmotionmanagement.com today.

I realized I hadn't logged into his direct address via Cpanel and instead had got the "Catch all box" when I logged into Squirrel Mail. That itself had around 300 spam bouncebacks in it.

There are over 1800 messges in the inbox on my partners email account, most of it is spam. I have no idea why these messages are being kept on the server. Did I do something wrong when I set the forwarder up? I can't see why this would happen unless regardless of if you choose to have email forwarded to an outside address, a copy of all messages are left on the server and all mail must be deleted via webmail as well as sorted in your outside email client. Is this the case?

Can someone explain to me why even though this account (all the emails on that domain actually) is checked multiple times on a daily basis there are gazillions of spam messages cluttering the inbox only in the webmail feature? We forward all those email addresses to Hotmail Earthlink email accounts. Shouldn't we be getting all these messages when we download our mail via our email client and shouldnt all those emails be cleared off the server once downloaded?

I have yet to check each of the email addresses on that domain, but from the looks of it there is probably wads more spam to clean. Any help or insight would most certianly be appreciated!

Thanks,

Natalie

Hi Nat,

I'll try and answer a few of these for you

Forwards. Yes, as you suggest, if you set up forward from fred@Adomain.com to john@Bdomain.com (or even somewhere else at Adomain.com) then a copy of the email still goes to the account at fred@Adomain.com. If you don't want any email on fred@Adomain.com then just delete the account. The forward will still work.

Deleting messages. You can either delete your messages via webmail, or you can set your mail client to delete the messages from the server once they are downloaded.

Why is it not deleting? Have you got your client set up to delete from the server? If so then it should be deleting. If it is set, but not deleting, then we need to dig a bit deeper.

How does that work? If I delete username@**** in the main "manage Accounts" portion of the Email panel, doesn't that eliminate me from getting mail at that domain address even if I have a forward from username@domain.com to username@hotmail.com? Sorry, I'm a bit confused... either that or my blonde roots are just deper than I thought, or I;m too tired to think straight! LOL I thought the first domain email had to be in place first for a forward to work.

Not sure where to do this in Outlook or Hotmail. I'm gonna send you a PM with a linkt o a webpage I set up to show you how I set up both the email accounts on TCH and also my Outlook Client. Maybe a visual will help.

I thought it was set up to do that on the accounts I access using Outlook. I can see where it says to keep messages on the server, but not necessarily a direct box to check that tells the client to ensure all email is cleared of whatever server it used to access that email account.

Look for that PM in a few seconds.

Sorry for the trouble, I'm sure it's something super silly that I've overlooked.
