Does anybody know how to set up a full text search engine so that people can search the content inside my files (most are microsoft word, excel, etc)? I tried isearch but it only indexes html files. I want to set up a kind of library, and I know that there are a few apps which do the full text indexing by installing a running process on the server (e.g., inktomi and mnogosearch). But I don't think I am allowed to do so on a shared hosting server... Quote

Doing a google search there are a number of possibilities but it would seem best to use one of the packages that creates an index offline, and then enables searching through a Java script. I'm sure someone with a bit more knowledge will be a along shortly though Andy Quote
