thatguy8b Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 (edited) http://BestSpamSoftware.com/ is an easy to remember url and the perfect description of Disruptor OL. If you are paranoid I've included two alternate links. click as you please -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you use an email client to access your mail as opposed to webmail like hotmail or yahoo then you should use some kind of antispam software. If you, lilke more than 80% of the business world, use Outlook as your email client you should invest in a copy of Disruptor OL: http://www.hlembke.de/prod/disruptor/ You will get hands down the best antispam software I have ever used. It has two main modes of operation. One-click install for non technical minded people, and one click to activate power user customization. It installs seamlessly as a COM addin. You need not change any of your outlook settings. I have been using it since it's first beta in December 2002. It has EVERY anti spam technology rolled into one powerful interface. I've tried about two dozen other packages and nothing comes close. (Yes, I do sound like an infomercial). I received a free license for beta testing and I liked it so much I bought an additional license. It truly is one click. After installing you will be presented with this box: This is a must have product!!!! Once installed you will get a new toolbar and this powerful drop down I'm sure you already employ some kind of message sorting. Navigate to the folder where you keep your known, good mail and whitelist all the people you trust. That's it for newbies. Power users will appreciate that EVERYTHING can be customized. Power users will enjoy regular expressions and the filter builder (now with fitler chaining). Unique to Disruptor OL is "secure message". Disruptor can strip out potentially harmful bits from your email, remove attachments, remove offsite images (how spammers track you), or simply render HTML mail to formatted text: http://www.hlembke.de/prod/disruptor/ edited to quell paranoia http://BestSpamSoftware.com --> http://www.hlembke.de/prod/disruptor/ in the same way as http://Disruptor.de --> http://www.hlembke.de/prod/disruptor/ whew Edited August 15, 2003 by thatguy8b Quote
surefire Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Are you associated with this product in any way? Quote
surefire Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Guys... Be aware that the link provided at the start of this thread redirects to this link: http://www.hlembke.de/prod/disruptor/ Which leads me to believe thatguy8b gets a kick back through an affiliate program. There's nothing wrong with making money... I'm a capitalist too. But just understand that the glowing review given here might not be impartial. Quote
thatguy8b Posted August 15, 2003 Author Posted August 15, 2003 Associated? I use it. I profit nothing from you using this product if that's what you mean. This is an altruistic posting. I like the program. I reallllly like this program. Most great software gets grassroots promotion. I benefit by encouraging others to use this program thereby keeping the developer hard at work cranking out upgrades so I'll be able to continue using a great antispam product. Maybe I'm not as altruistic as I thought. A little selfish and a little selfless. the best of both? Kick the spam to the curb with Disruptor OL! As I stated I have beta tested it. Here I'll change the links.. geeez in the spirit of full disclosure there are two versions available on the site. A final release product and a new, more heavily featured beta for power users. This product can be used in tandem with IzzyMail to de-spam your AOL email accounts, or any webmail account like hotmail and yahoo. It's great for exchange. it requires ZERO changes to your outlook settings (unlike other outlook products). Thumbs Up What other programs does thatguy like? thatguy also delights in Proxomitron (no, it's not defunct). If you're a linux geek then you should lay hands on privoxy. Both filter web content stripping out annoyances like flashing things, ads, and popup code! Thatguy is particularly fond of Miranda, a multiprotocol chat client: http://miranda-im.org/ again if you're a linux geek there is an alternate product; you should try GAIM: http://gaim.sourceforge.net/ this thatguy is here to help! surefire Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Didn't mean to upset you. It just seemed strange that your posting was so detailed, with screen shots, etc. and the link redirected. If I jumped to the wrong conclusion, I am truly sorry. Quote
TCH-Sales Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Either way this post reads more like an advertisement rather than just an opinion. surefire had good reason to be concerned, and I want to thank him for alerting of the redirect. Quote
