Bob Crabb Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 I'm in the very early stages of planning a new site, and I'm thinking about using Siteframe as the basic engine to control registration, session management, and document sharing. Does anyone here have any experience using Siteframe? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Bob Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Siteframe requires PHP5 Pulled that from their site. Sorry but if that is a requirement it will not run on the TCH servers. I would recommend something like Drupal or Joomla. Quote
Bob Crabb Posted April 27, 2007 Author Posted April 27, 2007 (edited) Thanks Bruce. You know, I went on the Siteframe site and never even looked at the system requirements. I assumed that since it was listed as an option in Fantastico on my site's cpanel that it would be compatible. Good thing that I didn't try to install it . edit: I just checked again. Fantastico will install 3.2.2. Beaumont (5.0.2) is the current full blown release. Maybe the older release is compatible with PHP4. Edited April 27, 2007 by Bob Crabb Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 While I haven´t used Siteframe (logging in, posting, etc...) but I just tried to install it through fantastico and it worked great. But I never did anything else, so there may be errors when actually using it. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Sorry I went to the Siteframe site and their latest version requires PHP5. If it's in Fantastico it should run fine. Quote
Bob Crabb Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 Thanks for the feedback. I now think that if I do use a CMS script for the site, I'll use something other than Siteframe even though it looks like a nice little system. Since the latest and greatest release requires PHP5, I would be concerned about the longevity of support for 3.2.X. a back level release. If support was discontinued and security issues forced me to upgrade, then I'd have to switch to a different CMS. That would be a mess!!! Quote
