rnmcd Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 I'm not sure which forum to post this question because I'm not sure what is causing this: The far majority of email that I send via WebMail (Squirrel Mail) gets put in junk/spam/bulk boxes of recipient. I didn't realize this until I sent myself an email from my webmail to my yahoo and hotmail accounts and it was put in junk/spam box. Then I contacted people I had sent email to (via phone or different email service) and they said they didn't get the email or they found it in their junk/spam/bulk email boxes. Any idea what 'factors' email services use to determine which email they put into junk/bulk/spam? I usually only send Squirrel Mail to one or two email address at a time and it is not spam. Could I have some setting improperly set? Another odd thing about this is that I have a "Yahoo Mail Plus" that allows me to send email from Yahoo with the From: and email address of my WebMail account. Oddly these emails go to the recipients Inbox the majority of the time. I would have thought that email sent from Yahoo with the From: and email address of my WebMail account would have a likelier chance of being considered spam. Would anyone have any ideas how I can improve my chances of getting a Webmail email into the inbox instead of the junk box? Thanks. Quote
rnmcd Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 Could it be something in the header of the email? That's about the only difference I can see between the email I send from my Webmail vs. my Yahoo Mail Plus account. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 Yes, it's almost certainly the headers on the webmail email. You need to make sure that the user etc are set up correctly in the webmail setup. Include both sets of headers in a ticket at the help desk, and we'll have a look which of your settings in webmail it looks to be. Quote

I'll make copies of each header and submit them in a ticket. Out of curiosity, would it be wrong for me to post the headers in this thread? I'm quite new to WebMail and I very likely could have something set wrong. Quote
TCH-Andy Posted February 4, 2007 Posted February 4, 2007 You could post them in the thread - the only thing is that includes your email address - and I wouldn't want the email harvesters to grab it - if you want to modify them though (in a clear way that we can see what's modified) that would be fine. The reason I didn't start a ticket immediately is that I thought someone in the forums might know the answer and then other TCH users would be able learn from it too. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 The techs don´t visit the forums as often as we mods, so it´s better to submit a ticket and they will look in to it. Quote
