Samrc Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 (edited) Opened 2 browser windows on the same PC this morning. IE - standard english google appears and works Firefox - Google start page is NETHERLANDS and all searches return in DUTCH. I am located in Florida, USA. Have tried resetting my home page to google.com on Firefox, and address bar says google.com BUT I get the Netherlands version each time. Even reinstalled version 2. Nope. I found a link on another forum to set cookies on (I have) and to use google.com/webhp for your URL to force google.com to load. But that still loads the Dutch version of the google home page. Used the option under manage search engines to remove google. Restarted the browser and added it back in. Nope. Still the Dutch version. Wacky!! I have never had such a problem. Any suggestions? TCH-Thomas Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Perhaps you already tried this but its the only things I can think of... 1) Changing "Display Google tips and messages" (first drop down box: in "preferences" 2) Have you tried clicking on the fourth link (last one) on the page, should say something like "Go to..." in the language used at the moment. Samrc Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 I closed and walked away for a while. Came back reopened google in firefox... NEW link at bottom of dutch Google screen that was not there earlier!!! New link says: Google in English. Don't know how or why I ended up on Netherlands version (I opened the browser and there it was!) but am happy to be back in the states again. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Nothing is like a free trip to another place/country. Quote

Samrc Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Just checked it at home....just FINE! Still in USA. (Yes Thomas, my trip to Germany cost far more and took far more time than my detour to the Netherlands! Quote
