hello everyone!

 

i've got myself a new pda/phone this one

and i have all my contacts exported from an old mobile (SE k750i) to outlook, then when i try to run the active sync it just "syncs" all the times, the little spinner spins and i even left it over night and no content is exchanged, i update active sync to the latest version and still nothing.

 

its fine when im using it to add another program. ive tried sending my contacts from phone to phone but the k750 and the mobile 5 phone obviously dont cross talk the way they store contacts.

 

does anyone have any experience with this model or just the active sync in general that can help?

I used to have the 02 XDA - but I didn't get the problem you are seeing.

 

I assume you've done all the usual things.... defined what to sync, which outlook user, which fields etc.

 

Can you access the XDA via file manager ? (ie. Is the connection good, and all the security issue sorted out.)

 

Can you do a manual sync (rather than an automatic one) ? And is it just the contacts that fail ? Or everything that fails ?

yep all is said "sync to this that and the other"

i can get in via the explorer in my computer and see what i have on the device

 

and i dont know how to manually sync

it's all gone sour now.

 

i can not longer sync, it says it cant find any device

i cant get in via my computer anymore

 

no settings have been changed on any device to my knowledge

Any firewall blocking it ?

haha i switched my zonealarm off (After saying "yep let it through")

and it works, ill have to have a look at my security rules again...

i can now use this as my proper mobile without fear of having no-ones number

 

edit - it all works now, emails sync, tasks sync but my contacts wont... is there any setting i need to change

I'm glad most of it is sorted

 

not sure why everything apart from contacts sync. I'd suspect that it's in the settings for that part (you have been through and set up what fields in outlook are associated with which field in the phone? )

it all works now, but it's fussy i've deleted my device set it up again, then said dont sync contacts then said do the next time (and turned my firewall off for a bit) it works.

 

it's microsoft, it's tempermental, it's something we all have to put up with
