Those are no longer offered.

We now have fantastico with SMF as the only easy install forum.

But of course you can download and install another forum.

no matter what forum you install,

it is your responsibility to keep it updated and secure.

Invision is no longer free, hasn't been for about 2 years now. Thus the reason it is no longer available.

 

phpBB while one of the most popular forum software packages is also susceptible to being hacked. While you can still download and install it on an account hosted here as Don says it is your responsibility to keep any software you install updated.

Question is is the version of SMF Fantistico installs 1.0.9, 1.1 or something older and exploitable? I'm betting on the latter.

While the version in fantastico may be one or two versions old, there is an excellent update manager in the admin part of SMF, so everyone can make sure they are using the latest version.

Actually you cannot update to 1.1 final from within the admin,you have to manually replace the files. The do offer a single file webinstaller now.

Ok, sorry. I didn´t know this.

Generally though, the update function should be a easy way to make sure the latest version is in use.

Thats ok I didn't know it until I wanted to update my modded 1.1 RC3 to 1.1 final :|

That has been driving me nuts as well. I thought, what have I done without being able to update like before. Thanks for the Heads Up. It was my next step too.
