Hi all, please forgive me if this question has been raised before, or if there's an obvious answer (I couldn't see anything in this forum with a quick look).

I'm completely new to Movable Type, though certainly not HTML, CSS and web design! I was following the guide to setting up MT (http://www.totalchoicehosting.com/help/id76.htm) but it doesn't seem written for the latest version of MT that I'm using, MT 3.31

For example, the guide mentions mt.cfg in step 3.1, but no such file exists. I assumed the equivalent is mt-config.cgi-original??? I edited this as close to what the guide said, but it didn't feel right! Anyway, after this I'm told in step 3.2.1 to go to edit mt-db-pass.cgi yet this file is not listed either. What should I be looking for?

Again, apologies if this is blindingly obvious and I've missed it! Hope someone can point out where I've gone wrong.

OK, I seem to have got MT up and running (well, I'm logged in and playing!) anyway, so I guess maybe the guide just has 1 or 2 superflous steps now... maybe!

Thanks for the info guys. Everything seems ok anyway. Now all Ihave to do is learn a helluva lot about layouts and templates to personalise my site! Fun though!

If you are new to MT you may want to look at Wordpress too. It's a one-click install from the Fantastico library in your cPanel.

Most of us that helped with the MT instructions have migrated to Wordpress.
