BluegrassGardener Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I was wondering, what's the best way to get access to FTP Logs. I tried to go through the cpanel and i'm getting a window that pops up that says "530 Authentication failed, sorry". Tried to FTP and also get error. Someone hacked my website so i'm trying to get some idea of when it was done and if anything was transferred to the server. My main website is down at the moment, though I have no idea if these are related. Oh, another question...is "Allow anonymous FTP" a default through cpanel. I just checked and saw that the button was clicked and know I would have never done that. And I'm also having problems with my stats on my website not updating. This has happened almost every other month. Let's see....I think that is about it. Hope someone has some answers. Thanks Quote
TCH-Andy Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I would suggest you open a ticket in the help desk, abuse department, about your site being hacked. They will be able to provide you the log files. If the site has been hacked, I would recommend that you clear the complete site, and reinstall from a backup. It's always tricky to go though every file and make sure they have not made any changes, or left anything behind, hence I'd restore from one you know is clean. I'd also ensure you change your passwords regularly, and make sure they are strong passwords (not just one or two real words, or letters replaced with numbers). Anonymous FTP is turned off at server level (so it does not matter what the setting in cpanel is, it's turned off). In terms of stats updates, if the server is loaded with other tasks overnight, the stats will not be updated. If it happens over several nights, open a ticket at the desk, and we'll take a look. BluegrassGardener Posted July 15, 2006 Author Posted July 15, 2006 Hi Andy, I appreciate you answering my post. This issue seems to be cleared up, seems like my cousin decided to play a practical joke on me and screw with my files. I've changed my password so he won't be causing any alarm anymore. Thanks again for everyone's time. Quote
