welshwizard Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 How do I add a counter to my page? I made the HTML in cpanel, but simply copy/paste does not work, the text appears on the webpage ! What am I doing wrong? I am a complete novice with HTML Oh yes, can I see the IP address of the ppl that have left msgs on my board - it says the IP has been logged, but how do I see them? Quote
knucklehead Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 About the boards and IP address, you need to log in as ADMIN and that should make the IP addry appear. The copy and paste feature from cpanel should work fine. Give me a URL to see what you did. Quote
Lianna Posted December 21, 2002 Posted December 21, 2002 Welshwizard, What app are you using to create your pages for the site? If using a WYSIWYG, often you must use a pass-through technique or the app will have a specific Insert option for additional code. Lianna Quote
welshwizard Posted December 22, 2002 Author Posted December 22, 2002 <img src="/cgi-sys/Count.cgi?df=dtjames.dat|display=Counter|ft=6|md=5|frgb=100;139;216|dd=Z"> This is the HTML code that the generator gave me. When I use the HTML tag of Frontpage (OfficeXP) to insert this, all it does is put this text on the page ! What is missing? - SOmething to tell it that it is code and not text perhaps? Oh yes, and the IP address does NOT appear when I am in Admin mode either. Any ideas? Cheers. Quote
Lianna Posted December 22, 2002 Posted December 22, 2002 Ok, I have Office XP, but not Frontpage. When using Word to create a web page, for example, you select View > Source Code from the menu to access the html of the page and then you would insert the code for counter in the appropriate place in the source. Anybody with FP have any offerings? Lianna Quote
welshwizard Posted December 22, 2002 Author Posted December 22, 2002 Where do the IPs appear in the Admin of the guestbook ? Quote
CAMPPAIN Posted December 24, 2002 Posted December 24, 2002 i have the same problem and i just use notepad to make my pages. but i have not been able to get the counter to work. i tried renameing it,trying different styles, etc. etc.. The count down timer and clock work perfectly fine though. I just gave up on the counter. Quote
jrogers7 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 I had some of the same problems (and I also use FP 2002), but fixed them by removing the ".dat" part of the string. Counter works fine now. Quote
