Mae Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I've been sick for about a month, and haven't been on my forum. I just went on and found dozens of spam items, including some really sick ones. I've been deleteing one by one. Can someone please tell me how to make my forum registered user only? And does anyone know how to delete a bunch of inappropriate posts at once? Also, how do I ban these freaks with nothing better to do with their lives? I really don't know the ins and outs of managing my forums. I can't have this awful stuff on there - it's a teacher's forum for heavens sake. Please help. I feel like crying after seeing some of the nasty junk people are posting. Quote
TCH-Thomas Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Hello, I don´t use phpbb so I can´t help much, but I found some info in this thread regarding stopping spammers. Quote
stevevan Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 Such is life on the Internet! Have you checked any of the documentation found here? I'm also assuming that you have the latest and greatest version installed, right? Quote
carbonize Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 phpBB has no real anti sam measures other than only allowing members to post or moderating every entry before publication. SMF does have a nice mod that adds image verification to registration AND guest postings. Quote
Samrc Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 no real anti sam measures Kool.... then Sams like me can post without registering? Quote
MikeJ Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 In the phpBB administration, you have to go to Forum Permissions and for each forum change them from "Public" to "Registered", and that should disallow guest posting. Also, at least within each forum, you can click on "Moderate this forum", and then select all the threads you want to delete (or within a single thread, all the posts you want to delete) and hit delete. If you want to delete multiple posts buried within multiple threads, though, you are probably going to have to do them one by one. Quote
