MRM4TN Posted May 30, 2006 Posted May 30, 2006 I have had a phpBB message board on my web site for 3 years. Anytime I have needed to upgrade to the newest version, it was a matter of going through my cpanel and upgrading. Some things have been changed on my cpane. Now, instead of it listing my current version and the new version available, a new screen appears and it only has the option of installing the current version (2.20). Since I already have the software installed, will installing the new version wipe out what I already have instead of updating it? If so, what can I do to update by board without wiping it out? I have too many members to start over again. Quote

You should head on over to the phpBB site and download the changed files only package and follow the instructions contained in the zip file to update your installation. Quote

When someone uses the quote button, instead of inserting the gray box and putting the user's name in bold letters, the code is actually seen (i.e. ). Anyone have any ideas? This worked before the upgrade. Quote

thehemi Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Why is the "upgrade" feature no longer available via cPanel? For several versions in the past, it worked fine, why not now? It made upgrade maintenance so much easier, in my opinion. Quote
TCH-Bruce Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Scott, what's in cPanel is controlled by the folks at cPanel and not TCH. I would take the time to learn how to upgrade your forum manually as cPanel is always behind in versions it releases. If you want a forum that can be updated easily take a look at SMF (Simple Machines Forum). It's included with Fantastico, it's free and there is an update manager in the admin interface. Quote
